Vodafone GPRS pricing revised

Vodafone have revised their GPRS pricing and it’s now a lot cheaper (AFAIR). Thankfully my USB Bluetooth adaptor came yesterday (Thanks Niall!), so now I only have to figure out how to get it working in Linux with my Nokia 7650! Any help appreciated! (via Peter)

Edit in 2025: I fixed the link to that pricing page. Look at that, 3 Euro per megabyte of GPRS data. You’d burn through that looking at Facebook in a second or two.

  1. @donncha was thinking about similar recently. Along the lines of €5 credit (on a thermal slip of paper no less) (£ maybe) and mobile phone calls that were charged by the minute. (And subsequent retailers act of defiance when their margins were reduced by telcos – to charge a 10c/p sur charge. I don't think that ended well to be honest). Some things change for the better.

  2. @donncha Ah happy times 😀 I got a new prepaid package back then, thought I have 500 MB of data. Nope, still was 50 MB and each MB after was about that price.

  3. @donncha I think that was my first provider back in 2009 yes. Now thankfully it’s all unlimited (at least you don’t run out usually). In Austria I have 15 Euro, prepaid, 80GB 5G, 2000 Minutes and 1000 SMS, this goes for the whole EU. In Poland I now have a similar plan, 50GB 5G and unlimited minutes / SMS also EU wide. Came a long way really!
