Digitalization is not only intensifying and accelerating change in society and industry, it is also having an impact on functional safety in the production world. 🌐 But what if intelligent safety solutions could facilitate end-to-end automation instead of hindering it at key points? There is a new approach: Where conventional safety concepts can no longer keep pace with the rapid development of automation in many industrial applications, SICK Dynamic Safety overcomes these static limits as a holistic, innovative concept. Using real-time localisation data, safety-relevant functions are executed dynamically on the basis of a risk assessment. The safe localisation and holistic analysis of all dynamic movements and positions at all times means that bottleneck situations can be overcome in the future and high production speeds can be maintained. "Hackathons are just a bunch of programmers hanging out in a basement for some time!" Sam Larsen-Disney thought the same at the beginning of his hackathon career. But he quickly realized they are actually full of motivated people and offer so much to experience. 🚀 By last year's #SICKSolutionHackathon, Sam had already participated in 66 hackathons and even wrote a book on "How to Survive a Hackathon" with many tips and tricks! 🤯 This year, he will join the SICK Solution Hackathon again from October 15-17, but in a slightly different way. Did you know that "Compass" also stands for "Cognitive Machine Perception – a Scalable Solution"? The SICK-internal start-up with this name consists of three colleagues. One of the problems they aim to solve is stationary baggage belts at airports. For airports, this is a significant issue.
