Our goaI is to get you an easy-to-use, reliable and sensitive diagnostic test that can detect your biomarker of interest
Over ons
Surfix Diagnostics develops diagnostic tests for the early detection and monitoring of cancer utilizing its photonic diagnostics platform that combines six state-of-the-art technologies. To make it even more exciting: this photonic diagnostics platform is so versatile that it can be used for immunoassays AND for molecular diagnostics. Any protein or nucleic acid-based biomarker in a liquid biopsy can be detected, provided a suitable bioreceptor to capture this biomarker is available. The core of Surfix’s photonic diagnostics platform is a photonic biosensor consisting of a photonic biochip and a microfluidic cartridge both optimized with Surfix's proprietary nanocoatings. The biosensor is used in combination with a dedicated desktop reader.

HAPPY, HEALTHY AND HIGHLY EFFECTIVE TEAM! At Surfix Diagnostics, we truly care about our individual team members, besides we consider the happiness and well-being of our team as essential to our success.. Therefore, one of our company Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) is to foster a happy, healthy, and highly effective team. OKRs are a powerful tool for setting goals and communicating what we aim to achieve and the milestones needed to get there. Below two examples of our OKRs in action: EMPLOYEE SATISFATION SURVEY Recently, we conducted our first company-wide Employee Satisfaction Survey. This involved ranking 85 statements to gauge team satisfaction across various aspects: Job Tasks, Work Environment, Colleagues, Management, Values, Personal Development, and Benefits. We shared the findings with the team last week, revealing that we are in great shape. Notably, the statement "I am proud to tell others that I work here" achieved an excellent Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 8.1, surpassing our goal of 8. This survey was the first step in assessing our team's happiness and health. In a subsequent workshop, divided into four groups, the team reviewed lower-scoring elements and developed recommendations for the Management Team to improve these areas. These recommendations were then shared with the entire team. Team members nominated colleagues who made the most valuable contributions to the discussions. The selected colleagues, Tamara Labeur, Roel Maas, Anke Kristin Schütz-Trilling, and Hester van Dorst, were asked to form the first Surfix Employee Representative Council (ERC). Although Surfix, with approximately 30 employees, is too small for an official Works Council (in Dutch: ondernemingsraad), we value every team member's voice and believe the ERC will significantly contribute to our success. ANNUAL TEAM EVENT Last week, Roel Maas and Sabine Rutten did a great job by organizing our annual Team Event, which included an overnight stay at the ‘Kasteelboerderij’ Gunhof in Swolgen. The event featured a BBQ, board game evening, and a day of fun and sporty activities in Nijmegen. We also visited the MuZieum, a fascinating museum where we experienced what it's like to be blind or partially sighted. This annual Team Event has become a cherished tradition, exemplifying our OKRs in action and highlighting why Surfix Diagnostics is a great place to work. #greatcompanytoworkfor #surfixdiagnosticsteamrocks

The last couple of years we at Surfix Diagnostics have worked on a project outside the human medical work we now concentrate on. It was a European Horizon 2020 project called PhotoSens in which a number of great companies (TunaTech GmbH, PHIX Photonics Assembly, CSEM, LRE Medical GmbH and of course we) participated. Prof. Dr. Chris Bridges, CCO of TunaTech wrote an article about it in Hatchery Int'l. Below you can find a picture of the article. As it is rather small and not really readable, you can find the article via the news page on our website as well! Enjoy reading about this interesting work. And as usual: if you want to know more about it, please drop us a line!

The Wageningen UR Campus Run took place last night. And of course the sportiest colleagues from Surfix Diagnostics were there! Besides 500 other runners! A beautiful shirt was made that gave them wings! I won't bore you with the running times of our runners, but good and fast times were run on both the 2.5 km run and the 5 km run. We assume that we are the fastest company in Wageningen...
