  • After the success of our YES! Rock The School Mega Edition in Kedah, Pahang, and Johor, #TeamTalentCorp, under the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), collaborated with the Ministry of Education (MOE) in partnership with the Penang State Government and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) to launch YES! Rock the School Mega Edition: Penang! Over the next 2 days, 554 students and 150 teachers from 34 schools in Penang will participate in the youth empowerment programme, marking a significant step towards Penang's vision of cultivating future-ready talent for high-tech industries. The event was officiated by H.E. Tun Dato' Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi bin Haji Abdul Razak, Governor of Penang. During the event, YB Steven Sim Chee Keong, Minister of KESUMA, highlighted the ministry's dedication to addressing underemployment through collaborative initiatives like YES! Rock the School. The programme aims to spark students' interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) careers, offering valuable industry exposure and boosting career awareness to guide students towards STEM-related opportunities. YES! Rock the School Mega Edition aligns with Penang's STEM Talent Blueprint and supports national initiatives such as the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030 and the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS). YB Steven Sim also announced that TalentCorp will launch comprehensive career guidance through YES! Counsellors initiative by January 2025. This programme will train 168 school counsellors across 127 Penang secondary schools, benefitting over 100,000 students, with the ultimate goal of certifying these counsellors as master trainers to ensure the programme's sustainability before a nationwide rollout with support from the MOE. Also present at the opening ceremony were YB Dato' Hj Rashidi Bin Zinol, the Penang Exco for Trade, Entrepreneurship and Rural Development Committee; Datuk Azman Bin Mohd Yusof, Secretary General of KESUMA, Dato' Haji Abdul Said Bin Hussain, Director of the Penang Education State Department; En.
