PETRONAS kickstarts its first-ever brand licensing model through the opening of three pilot stations in Sao Paulo, Brazil, paving the way for our expansion into the global fuel retail segment through partnerships with established independent retailers. The model involves PETRONAS licensing its brand and fuel formulations to the partners, who will in turn take on the financial and operational aspects of the fuel retail stations. The pilot stations in Brazil, operated by SIM Distribuidora, offer our suite of advanced fluid solutions, including PETRONAS Primaxᵀᴹ fuel with proprietary additive technologies, and PETRONAS Syntiumᵀᴹ lubricants, derived from our Fluid Technology Solutionsᵀᴹ. Torch One of the ongoing “Journey of the Twin Torches” tour made its recent pitstop at PETRONAS Chemicals Fertiliser Sabah Sdn Bhd (PC FSSB) in Sipitang, Sabah — the second largest single train ammonia and urea plant in Southeast Asia, and the fourth largest urea plant in the Asia-Pacific region. The event took place during PC FSSB’s Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Week, an annual event aimed at strengthening generative HSE culture among its staff and contractors, while cultivating a deep dedication to environmental stewardship. Located within the Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park, PC FSSB is the first world-class fertiliser plant in Sabah, producing 1.9 million metric tonnes of ammonia and urea per annum. Discover PETRONAS @ Schools: TVET Event Sparks Inspiration in Melaka PETRONAS' Human Capital Investment team recently hosted an inspiring Discover PETRONAS @ Schools: TVET event at Institut Latihan Perindustrian (ILP) Selandar, Melaka on 10 July, aimed at igniting a passion for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) among Form 4 and Form 5 students from 10 secondary schools in the state. Held in collaboration with Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK) and other technical and vocational institutes, the event showcased a range of technical career paths through dynamic talks, interactive booths and hands-on technical activities. At the same time, JPK held its "Program Teroka Potensi Kemahiran Dalam Kerjaya Dan Kejayaan Melalui TVET 2024" for 100 teacher counsellors, equipping them with in-depth TVET knowledge to better guide students towards promising technical and vocational careers. This marks the 6th Discover PETRONAS @ Schools initiative this year, underscoring PETRONAS’ dedication to fostering a skilled and innovative workforce. This is one of the key takeaways from the World Business Council for Sustainable Development's (WBCSD) latest insight article, “Financing the Energy Transition: Moving the Needle”. Introducing Keong Boon Kim, a dynamic data scientist with a heart as big as his dreams. From a young age, he dreamt of following in his aunt's footsteps to become a teacher. However, a career talk during his lower secondary years opened his eyes to possibilities in the oil and gas industry. Through PETRONAS’ education sponsorship programme, Keong's dreams took flight, propelling him towards a Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, followed by a Master's in Applied Data Analytics. “The sponsorship did not just open doors — it unleashed a whirlwind of transformation, launching me towards an uncharted journey of learning and growth,” he said. From preventive maintenance projects to pioneering data analytics initiatives, every milestone in Keong’s career thus far is a testament to the possibilities that emerge when dreams meet determination. Looking ahead, Keong sees himself as not just a data scientist at PETRONAS, but also as a catalyst for change and progress. Beyond the boardroom, he is a rock climber at heart, finding solace in the thrill of reaching new heights. It is a reminder that life's greatest achievements often lie beyond our comfort zones. Torch One, part of PETRONAS' ongoing P50 Homecoming tour, made a significant stop at the Kimanis Petroleum Training Centre (KTC) in Sabah recently during its Open Day, which welcomed trainees and students from neighbouring schools to explore vast opportunities in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) field.   Established in 2011, KTC is the first institution in Sabah to offer a three-year full-time training programme in Industrial Instrumentation and Control, recognised by the Department of Skills Development. The graduates have been recognised for their competence and many have secured employment in various sectors, including the oil and gas industry.   This initiative underscores PETRONAS' commitment to Sabah's growth by equipping young talents with the skills needed for the oil and gas industry. Torch Two arrived recently on the East Coast, shining its light on the opening of our newest petrol station in the vibrant township of KotaSAS, Kuantan! The celebration featured a motorcycle convoy bringing the torch into the city, marking the start of its journey in the region. The KotaSAS petrol station — our 76th in Pahang — opened its doors to the local community and travellers alike, with fun family activities that brought joy and smiles. Torch Two is now travelling across Terengganu, making stops in Marang, Kertih and Batu Rakit, continuing its symbolic journey of achievement and commitment to the future of the industry and our nation. For decades, PETRONAS has journeyed alongside the incredible people of Terengganu. The dedication and spirit of its people have been instrumental in propelling Malaysia's oil and gas industry forward. The PETRONAS Homecoming Torch 2 has conquered the Southern region and made its triumphant arrival in Mersing, where we celebrated the success of 169 graduates from the Yayasan PETRONAS (YP) MEKAR programme! MEKAR (Memampankan Ekonomi Asas Rakyat) is a life-changing initiative aimed at uplifting underprivileged communities by providing them with skills, guidance and the spirit of entrepreneurship. Through a partnership between YP, the East Coast Economic Region (ECER) and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), we brought MEKAR to Mersing in 2022, and the results have been extraordinary!
