Philip Andre "Mickey" Rourke, Jr. (lahir 16 September 1956)[1] merupakan seorang pelakon dan bekas petinju Amerika Syarikat. Beliau menjadi terkenal ketika bermain di filem utamanya seperti The Wrestler. Dia dilahirkan di Schenectady, New York. Beliau berkerjaya di dunia filem sejak tahun 1979.
Awal hayat
[sunting | sunting sumber]Philip Andre Rourke Jr. lahir pada 16 September 1952 in Schenectady, New York[1] kepada Annette Cameron, seorang berdarah Scotland, dan Philip Andre Rourke, seorang berdarah Ireland.[2][3][4] Beliau dibesarkan dalam anutan Katolik.[5][6][7]
Ibu bapanya bercerai ketika Mickey masih muda; ibunya berkahwin dengan seorang pegawai polis Miami Beach bernama Eugene Addis; Mickey, dua adiknya dan ibunya berpindah ke Florida selatan mengikut Eugene.[8] Mickey menamatkan persekolahannya di Miami Beach Senior High School pada tahun 1971.[9]

[sunting | sunting sumber]Beliau bergiat sukan semasa sekolah tingginya di kelab olahraga Boys Club di Miami, di sanalah beliau mula memahirkan diri dalam sukan tinju. Beliau memenangi pertandingan peringkat flyweight 112-paun (51 kg) pada usia 12 tahun,[10] di bawah nama Phil Rourke.
Tidak lama selepas Rourke berhenti seketika dari sukan itu, seorang rakan sekelasnya di University of Miami menawarkan Rourke mencuba nasib berlakon dalam suatu drama pementasan diarahkannya sendiri, Deathwatch, setelah pelakon sebelumnya berhenti. Percubaan ini segera memutik minat lakonan dalam diri Rourke. Beliau berpindah ke New York[11] mendalami seni ini di mana beliau berguru dengan seberapa pelakon Actors Studio termasuk Walter Lott dan Sandra Seacat,[12][13] didikan Seacat yang paling mengesan dalam kemahirannya, menurut Rourke sendiri.[14]
