SpaceX will return stranded astronauts in February 2025, NASA announces

On August 24, NASA announced at a press conference Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore would return home from the International Space Station (ISS) on a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft in February 2025. The Boeing Starliner, the spacecraft which had been expected to transport the crew from ISS earlier in June, would return to Earth "un-crewed" — on autopilot with planned landing in a desert in New Mexico, possibly next month, the NASA announcement said.

England: Staffordshire town celebrates LGBTQ+ pride despite funding issues

The town of Hednesford, Staffordshire, England is set to host a pride event this coming Saturday as part of the town's monthly street market. The event, dubbed "Mini Chase Pride" in materials published by the organisers, has been set up to provide an LGBTQ+ space for the town after the Chase Pride planned for the end of August was cancelled due to issues with rising costs and "changes in Government legislation".

On June 10, the United States State Department reversed a ten-year-old restriction on the use of their weapons by the Azov Brigade of Ukraine after determining it had not committed human rights violations. The Azov Brigade is known in Ukraine for participating in the defense of Mariupol in 2022.

Israel Defense Forces rescue four hostages in Gaza

On June 8, the Israel Defense Forces announced they had rescued four hostages from the town of Nuseirat in Gaza. All of the hostages were taken by Hamas during the October 7 attack at the Tribe of Nova Festival in Re'im and held for eight months.
