Farmer’s Pridebuilding a network for on-site conservation of Europe’s plant diversity

Our crop plants, their varieties and wild relatives are essential for our food, nutrition and economic security.

But these plant genetic resources are being eroded and current efforts to maintain them are insufficient.

Farmer’s Pride brought together people with an interest in conserving and using plant genetic resources on farms, in gardens and in the wild.

The key aims of Farmer’s Pride were to . . .

Establish a European network for in situ conservation and sustainable use of plant genetic resources

Promote best practices in in situ and on-farm conservation and management

Enhance the use of plant genetic resources conserved in situ

Influence the policy environment for plant genetic resources conservation and sustainable use
