Toxicity
• Topical—Cantharis causes erythema, urticaria and vesiculation.
• Oral—GI irritation, nausea and vomiting, diarrhoea, cramping and collapse; as little as 60 mg of this highly nephrotoxic agent may be fatal; active component is cantharidin, a rubifacient.
