The presence of polymer within the wood cell walls of a balsa WPC containing 1:1 copolymer of ethyl-(hydroxy methyl) acrylate (EHMA) and ethyl(chloro methyl) acrylate (ECMA) was determined by Wright and Mathias using this method [77].
One of the interesting features of this system is that the presence of the -COOH groups in the EHMA copolymer limits the miscibility of the P(EHMA-co-MAA) with PEHMA itself and its copolymers with tBCEMA.
