On 13 and 14 November, IOM - UN Migration in the Republic of Moldova organizes a two-day training focused on the #identification, #protection, and #assistance of victims of trafficking (VoTs), based on the latest edition of the Handbook for Embassies and Diplomatic Missions on “How to Assist and Protect Victims of Human Trafficking”, developed by the Council of the Baltic Sea States. The training is specifically tailored for consular and embassy officials to recognize the signs of trafficking, gain a deeper understanding of reporting mechanisms, and apply practical tools for effective and compassionate intervention. Ester Ruiz de Azua, IOM Moldova’s Chief of Mission: ➡️ "Consular and embassy officials hold a pivotal role in combating human trafficking as frontliners in identifying and assisting victims, which requires specialized trainings and sensitivity. ➡️ IOM Moldova, in collaboration with Moldovan authorities, partners and donors, remains committed to a comprehensive and victim-centered approach to combating human trafficking."

Starting in November 2024, IOM - UN Migration in the Republic of #Moldova is supporting national stakeholders in upgrading the country’s Extended Migration Profile (EMP) methodological template and indicators set to incorporate new and relevant metrics that better reflect Moldova’s evolving migration patterns and policy priorities, as well as to serve as a tool to harmonize reporting standards on migration-related statistics for both the United Nations and the European Union. To launch the revision process, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in cooperation with IOM, organized the first meeting of the EMP Technical Working Group attended by over 20 representatives from central public authorities. This initiative is part of the Joint UN Moldova Migration Multi-Partner Trust Fund Programme (MMPTF) jointly implemented by IOM, UNDP, UNICEF, and WHO. #Migrants, #refugees, Moldovan women, and health professionals gathered in #Ungheni and #Chisinau to participate in a training session on #breastcancer early-detection and access to health services available for migrants and refugees. The initiative, organized with the support of IOM - UN Migration in the Republic of #Moldova, the Oncology Institute, the National Cancer Control Program, the Ministry of Health and the National Health Insurance Company, aims to reduce barriers faced by #women, including refugee and migrant women, in accessing preventive health services. One key goal of these sessions is to foster a supportive environment where both migrant, refugee and local women can gain knowledge about early detection of breast cancer and take appropriate timely measures. With nearly 200 participants, these two events highlighted the importance of community-led health initiatives in creating a safer and more inclusive health environment for all.
