Filipino pugilist “Magic” Mike Plania needed just 12 seconds to showcase his dominance to score a technical knockout (TKO) triumph against Nicaraguan Martin Diaz in their eight-round featherweight bout at Miccosukee Indian Gaming Resort, Miami last weekend.

Plania, 27, barely warmed the ring as he floored Diaz at the 2:48 mark of the first round to mark his return after a heartbreaking defeat to American Angelo Leo last January in Florida.

The General Santos prized fighter obtained his 30th professional victory including 16 knockouts against four defeats, while Diaz suffered his 16th loss against 18 wins and two draws.

Plania was aggressive right from the get-go, throwing a flurry of punches to Diaz that rattled his rival.

Those punches were enough as Diaz hardly stood himself up and that was when the referees were convinced to stop the match.

It just boosted Plania’s morale after a traumatizing defeat against Leo.

The Sanman pug went down in the waning seconds of the third round where Leo put the former on the canvas in grueling pain with a powerful left hook to the body that gave signals to the officials’ final decision.

Leo became victorious and took home the WBA Continental North American featherweight title.
