Peter O’Leary completed his undergraduate medical degree in University College Cork and subsequently was awarded membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. At present, he is a Higher Surgical Trainee under the auspices of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He has a keen interest in minimally invasive endocrine surgery.

Peter was awarded a PhD from University College Cork upon completion of work investigating the pro-metastatic effects of Nox-derived reactive oxygen species in colon cancer. Ongoing research interests are focused upon investigating the juxtacrine, paracrine and endocrine effects of surgical inflammation, endocrine effects of adipocyte signalling as well as profiling of the surgical metabolome to gain a better understanding of surgically relevant disease.
