As part of our continued efforts to raise awareness on disaster risk reduction, World Vision Lesotho joins the Disaster Management Authority - Lesotho" today at Ha-Khoeli Primary School in Koro-Koro to celebrate the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction which was commemorated on the 13th October 2024 This year’s theme, "Empowering the Next Generation for a Resilient Future," emphasizes the critical role of education in protecting and preparing children for a disaster-free future. Disasters, especially those worsened by climate change, pose significant risks to the well-being of young people. Through the ECHO-funded "Consolidating and Strengthening Disaster Risk Reduction Capacities in Lesotho" project, and in partnership with organizations like World Food Programme and Lesotho Red Cross Society, we are advancing advocacy efforts to ensure: - Every child is protected from disasters, especially at school. - Schools actively promote disaster awareness and equip students to respond to risks. - Early warning systems are accessible to youth, ensuring no one is left behind. As part of this ongoing awareness campaign, we invite you to join us on the 15th November in Koeneng through our Livelihoods and Resilience Programme, in collaboration with Berea Disaster Management Authority.
