A just-launched ophthalmology practice has opened in a newly purchased medical office building in .

, founded by Dr. Eric Sigler and Dr. Ketan Laud, bought the 4,600-square-foot building on .17 acres at 585 Broadway for $2.65 million. The property was formerly leased to Summit .

NY Retina specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of retinal and vitreous diseases, with a focus on age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachment, according to Sigler.

“The practice was the outgrowth of the perceived need for more personalized and higher quality retinal care in a populated region subject to drastic consolidation by corporate owned medical practices in New York,” Sigler told LIBN via email. “There is also an unmet need of high-quality retina specialists on Long Island, but particularly in the eastern and south Nassau County region.”

Dan Abbondandolo and Joegy Raju of Cushman & Wakefield represented the buyer, while Jordan Baruch and Matthew Kucker of Colliers represented the seller, Dr. Rajesh Raina, in the Massapequa sales transaction.
