UNRWA, the main United Nations agency for Palestinians, said Wednesday it was making good progress in rolling out a polio vaccine to children in Gaza, but called for a permanent ceasefire in the 11-month war to ease humanitarian suffering.
UN said that three days into the campaign in areas of central Gaza around 187,000 children have received the vaccine.
On Thursday, vaccination teams move further south, mainly Khan Younis, where inoculations are expected to continue for the next three days.
The Israeli military continued its widescale offensive in the occ West Bank on Wednesday, the eighth day of massive raids across the territory.
The Palestinian Red Crescent accused Israeli forces of blocking their ambulances from reaching the wounded.
