Activists are calling for 10 days of nationwide protest, modelled on Kenya’s recent Gen Z uprising.

The first day threatens roadblocks in major cities such as Abuja and Lagos, and around the country’s airports.

The protesters’ demands are broad, among them lower taxes and power bills, cutting politicians’ pay and judicial reform.

The country’s president Bola Tinubu has urged young people not to join the protests.

He claims they are the work of ‘sinister’ people ‘capitalizing’ on the country’s economic woes.

Africa’s most populous nation is currently battling soaring food prices and inflation.

Tinubu has delivered a series of radical reforms — including reducing petrol subsidies, cutting electricity support and devaluing the currency – that have won praise from international lenders but triggered anger and strikes.
