Santa Cruz, California: University of California’s 48,000-member academic worker’s union, which represents graduate student teaching assistants, researchers and other academic workers at University of California’s 10 campuses, announced a strike Monday at the University of California Santa Cruz over alleged free speech violations during protests in support of Palestine.

The University filed a labor complaint on Friday saying the strike action is illegal.

The union voting 79% in support of “rolling” strikes, alleging unfair labour practices against union members who supported student protests in support of Palestine, demanding that universities divest from Israel and weapons companies. No length of time was given for the strike.
