In collaboration with Research Journey we are excited to announce the launch of our joint report Over the Arabian Sea: Bridging the gap between China and Kuwait. The thought leadership publication illustrates the existing relationship between Kuwait and China and how it can be strengthened further. It also aims to offer a comprehensive account of the cultural and economic ties between China and Kuwait and highlights potential opportunities to explore. This report will be launched at the premises of the Kuwait Economic Society (Kuwait Society) alongside a panel discussion featuring Alanoud AlSabah - Founder, of Research Journey, Muhammad Hanan Tariq - Partner, Tax, KPMG Kuwait, and Changfeng W. - Director, Tax at KPMG Kuwait. The panel discussion will cover the various Socio-economic aspects of Kuwait and China's relationships in the last decade. After weeks of meticulous planning and tireless efforts, we successfully wrapped up our 2024 Strategy Meet at Four Seasons, Kuwait, with a full house and a positive outlook for the future. There were many things that could have gone wrong, and even more that could have probably been done better. However, what came out in the end is what motivates us to organize this event year after year – the vision to see all of our colleagues together. As the Firm heads into 20th year of its operations, it is assuring to see people continue to remain at the heart of our values. With the UAE having implemented CIT (Corporate Income Tax) from 1 June 2023, we have entered a new era of tax in the region. Given the Kuwait CIT is likely to apply to all commercial activities with limited exclusions, this will be a paradigm shift for Kuwait businesses. Key stakeholders in Kuwait businesses will need to ensure their businesses and systems are ready for the introduction of CIT in Kuwait. Our latest Tax publication focuses on how organizations can calculate taxable income, diving further into four key aspects: (a) what corporate income tax is; (ii) how 'taxable income' is calculated; (iii) what it could mean for businesses; and (iv) what businesses should be doing now to prepare for CIT.
