  • Added a new filter option for the Cupid’s Corner app from the Lovestruck pack. When active, most matches on the app will come from the local region and new Sims you match with will spawn in the local region. Sims coming from the Gallery are unaffected.
  • Added support for the GTW active career Worlds. This only affects walkbys and service workers. Coworkers in the respective careers are still controlled by the coworker toggle settings. NOTE: While they look identical, the Police Station and Medical Clinic are actually separate Worlds.
  • Added support for new Career Overhaul Suite addon to generate local coworkers if that toggle is enabled.

This is an updated version of the mod by SHUSHU that I enjoyed using in my own game and wanted to maintain as the game was updated and introduced new Worlds.

Local Sims

Home Regions changes the game so that NPCs, such as vendors or Sims walking in the background, will be Sims living in that local World (i.e. only Willow Creek residents will show up at Willow Creek venues, only Sims that live in Oasis Springs will show up in Oasis Springs). Sims you specifically invite via phone, club event, or group system are exempt, as are certain roles where it is necessary for gameplay.

If there are not enough Sims in the World to fill a necessary role, the game will automatically generate homeless Sims who live in that World. Sims generated this way will remember their World, and will keep showing up there. 

Note: Homeless sims will not get generated infinitely, only enough to satisfy the game's requirements for NPCs, but this mod will very likely increase the population in your save file.

Smarter Sim Spawning

Home Regions changes several game filters so that the NPCs the game chooses make more sense, even beyond what World they come from. College parties won't be full of Elders, Sims traversing the Magic Realm will actually be Spellcasters, etc. 

Home Regions also fixes an issue where townies would all be assigned to a small number of Worlds. In an unmodded game, nearly all NPCs end up living in San Myshuno, Sulani, and Mt. Komorebi. With Home Regions installed, Sims will generate evenly across all Worlds.

Assign Townies to Worlds

You can assign townies to any World where you want them to show up and be treated as a local. This can be a Sim you’ve made and evicted, or a Sim randomly generated by the game that you like and want to see around. 

To move a Sim, turn on testing cheats, and then either shift-click the Sim you want to move, or shift-click the ground and use the menu to select several Sims at a time.

Regional Filters

You have control over whether Sims from one World can visit another World on their own. To change these settings, turn on testing cheats, and then shift-click the ground to access the settings menu. You can allow or disallow connections between as many Worlds as you want.

Note: By default, Magnolia Promenade allows Sims from Willow Creek and Newcrest.

Soft Filters


Soft Filters allow you to ease up the restriction on local NPCs, and can reduce your overall townie count. When a World uses a soft filter, the game will try to use local Sims first according to your Regional Filter settings. Then, if it runs out of valid Sims, instead of making a new townie, it will use an existing townie from another World to fill the role.

Note: By default, Magnolia Promenade and San Myshuno have a soft filter enabled.

Tourist Toggles

Normally, Sims will be allowed to bypass the Regional Filter settings in order to attend touristy events and spectacles in the public areas, such as Festivals in San Myshuno. If you would like to prevent tourism in a certain World, you can toggle that in the settings. By setting a World's tourism to "Locals Only", the mod will force events there to use local Sims.

Venue Filters

Venue Filters allow you control over how Sims spawn on certain lot types separate from the overall World rules. For example, you may want Copperdale to use local townies for the most part, but still want high school students to come from every World. By setting a venue to "Open", Sims on that lot type will be allowed to bypass your Regional Filter rules.

Career Filters

Career Filters allow you control over how Sims are filtered in certain career situations, such as Active Careers.

When set to Same as Household, other Sims working with your Sim in all those places will come from the same region as the active household, as set by your Regional Filter setting. This means if you have a Sim in the Doctor career in both Willow Creek and another in Oasis Springs, the game will generate two different staffs depending on which household you are currently playing.  If set to Open, then they will behave like normal, with the lot or rabbithole being in a no man's land where Home Regions does not prevent any Sim from spawning.

Note: These filters do not apply to the various career events that take place on standard lots, such as crime scene investigations.

Note: The Meet Coworkers career tone will NOT generate new Sims to fill that role if no one else in the region works in the same career, unless you also have Career Overhaul installed with the Generate Coworker addon.

World Filter Exemptions

If you have an individual Sim who want to be able to travel between Worlds, you can create a World Exemption rule that allows them to roam around into as many Worlds are you see fit.

To create a permission for a Sim, turn on testing cheats, and then shift-click the Sim you want to give access to. Select "World Filter Exemptions" and then "Add World Exemptions" to choose the Worlds they can visit.

International Hub Lot Trait


If you want an individual community lot to allow Sims from everywhere, you can give it the "International Hub" lot challenge in Build Mode. This will turn off all filters and restrictions immediately while the lot challenge is active there.

Notification Settings

To control how often you get notifications when moving Sims or changing your filters, you can turn on testing cheats, and then either shift-click the ground to access the mod's settings menu and select "Notification Settings". You can enable or disable notifications pop-ups for changing settings, moving Sims, or creating exemptions.

Reset All Settings

If you'd like to reset all your Home Regions settings and start over with default settings, you can turn on testing cheats, and then either shift-click the ground to access the mod's settings menu and select "Restore Home Regions Settings". You'll be prompted if you want to continue, backup your current settings, or cancel.

Requirements and Compatibility

This mod only requires the Base Game, but supports all packs.

This mod isn't likely to conflict with other mods because of how the script interacts with the game assets. There are no direct tuning overrides.

Hi, i'm back again to show some gratitude. i've stopped playing the sims because this mod wasn't working. and now i can finally play again. thanks a lot <3

Seeing someone from Willow Creek randomly at a bar in Windenburg was a shock! I knew I loved this mod but didn't fully realise how essential it is for good gameplay. My sim will be over here thinking, "wow she really looks like someone I know, what a coincidence!" for the time being. Thank you so much for creating this and updating it.

I love love love love ABSOLUTELY LOVEE this mod. It's one of the essential mods for me. I really hate when nancy landgraab just casually appears in her regular clothes in sulani or the forgotton hollow and vice versa... I am absolutely crushed when i saw the mod wasn't working and a spellcaster appeared at my forgotton hollow door, i was devestated :((( I know it's a huge update and it requires lots of fixes probably, i am waiting. Keep up the absolute golden work of yours. ❤️❤️

Hi Kuttoe, thank you for creating this mod. Home region is the most important mod in my game because I don't want my own sims walking around everywhere. Now the only thing I can do is just praying and waiting for your update.

Hello! I just signed up to tell you how much I appreciate this mod. I often see the same 4-5 mods recommended as the mods that people cannot live without, but for me your Home Regions + Townie Demographics mods are my number 1.

Before installing these mods, I often created a family + build, then gave up on gameplay — now I can enjoy play throughs. So just wanted to say a big thank you for your work!

Hi! Just downloaded this mod and I ran Mod Manager to check for mod conflicts but it seems to not conflict with anything in my game. Although first thing after running my game after installing it was an exception error:

"The listed script mod failed to load and should be removed or updated. Failure: 'kuttoe_home_regions/tunable/townie_street' (kuttoe_home_regions.tunable.townie_street) No module named 'kuttoe_home_regions.tunable.townie_street' (ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'kuttoe_home_regions.tunable.townie_street')"

Hi ! first, thank you Kuttoe for your work on this mod, this is very appreciated to have more "coherents" world. 

But for me, I got some troubles with this mod ; especially when I invite a sim from other neighbourhood (regions) for a temporary stay : when I go to community places as club, bars or gym in the neighbourhood with the invited sim, he disappears instantanely !

 I went to the "home regions options" bu clicking on  the invited sim and I changed the restriction on him for he appears in my neighboorhood but nothing changes...

Then, I noticed that the problem is not just for the invited sims from temporary stay but with ALL the other sims that aren't from my neighbourhood.  I Thought it was an uncompatibility with some mods because i've got some mods like : Improved Autonomy when loading screens , more sims in the world, no empty venues when arriving , Faster sim spawning ...and I thought it was some of them that caused troubles but when I put off them from mods folder, the problem was there again (didn't try to put off the mod "more sims in the world" because it's hard to reinstall it after)... 

Finally, I tried then an option in game of the homeregions mod  to enabled sims from another neighbourhood (like Oasis Spring, for example) to come in in my neighbourhood and IT WORKS sometimes on some  community places of the "vanilla game" But unfortunately not on the custom community lots and I don't undestand why...
Any solutions ? 


If somebody can helps , if you have a solution or another thing, It will be great beacause I want sims around the world to be in my gym, clubs and bar I downloaded from the creator's gallery  :)

I can't seem to find any info about the university world, do the Schoolmate filter apply to that world or is it excempt from any filter by default?

The schoolmate filter is just for the rabbithole school for children and teenagers. University students currently are allowed to come from all worlds.

I was wondering if I could add the University to the sims filter by places, just as it exists for the spa, restaurant, shops and even the teenage school. 

 The truth is that I don't like to see how in the university the game chooses sims from other worlds even though they are limited to not traveling from their world of origin, I prefer that the students and members of the organizations be sims from the same world of Britechester, I don't know if this can be considered for a future update of the mod. 

 Thank you very much for your work that really makes the game in a cleaner and more organized way.

This is something I can investigate as a possible toggle. However, it may be something that can only be a soft filter, as students can live in any world and will need to be able to access the university lots for a number of reasons.

I put the "home region" mod in my game and I really like the flexibility of the settings. But I have a question.

Do new NPCs need to assign a region? Does the mod automatically determine where new NPCs live?

There are a LOT of NPCs in my game (about 800), but they don't walk the streets of San Mishuno. In Magnolia Promenade, new NPCs are constantly being created. I found a setting where you can assign a region for NPS. Do I have to do it manually?

Hello, I really love this mod since I don't like at all that the sims of each world cross to other worlds.  

I wanted to consult an option if possible that could be added, I mean also being able to relocate the ghosts, because I have realized that both human sims and those who are vampires or wolves or Martians can be relocated, but the ghosts do not allow me to relocate them leaves. 

Is there a possibility that this option can also be added?

I don't see why not. I'll look into adding that in the next release.

I hope that the developers soon fix the infinite number of bugs that the game currently has that make it unplayable for many, such as the infamous error of the orange warning signs above the lots and many others.

I discovered a bug in Realm of Magic that causes the ghost vendors not to spawn in. The shops remain closed, you can't buy anything. Removing the mod fixes the issue.

Hi. I noticed one huge bug with your mod. If you live in rentable lot (new ep) and you have situation (like Electrical  - situation_muEvent_Electrical.SituationTuning) and you call landlord who live in another world with restrictions with this city - game send you random (no landlord) NPC tho can't repair objects.

Oh, another bug. When you're owner a for rent lot, and your tenant have a problem - event can't finish even when you done tasks

Will this mod be updated? Game version 1.102.190.1030.

Does this conflict with Carl's Sim Spawner & Filter Tool (SSFT). I like that Carl has an occult filter, but you have the international lot trait and the tourist filter and I just want to combine the tools, lol. Or just have the lot trait, tourist filter, and occult filter (to restrict occults to occult worlds so that when I don't want werewolves turning up in "realisim" play they don't). I don't want occults gone (there's some toggle on, toggle off tools), but I would like to choose to interact with them by keeping them in their zones by occult type.

Hello! Is there a way to see which townies are not assigned to a town? I have a lot of townies created, but the game still generates more.

I'm seeing more celebrities around recently than I used to. Did this mod use to corral celebrities into Del Sol Valley, or is it just that I'm playing a different save right now?
Also, are your mods clear for the Horse Ranch patch? I can't find anything about their status here, in the broken mods thread or on Scarlet's list.

For the "Backup & Restore" feature, it seems you can backup but not restore / import settings? I'm curious about this mainly because I downloaded a premade save that had the PERFECT Home Region settings already done up, and wanted to basically, export/import to a different save.

I'm not 100% sure what you are asking, but I'll make a few assumptions and answer it best I can. For questions like this and troubleshooting, it's best to come onto the Discord and ask there.

Restore puts all of your settings back to the default state. Backup creates a separate file that keeps all your old settings in case you realize starting over wasn't what you wanted. There is no in-game interaction to import settings; you need to make the changes yourself or overwrite the settings file in your folder with another one. Home Regions settings apply to all save files, and are not tied to a specific save file, nor are those settings transferred when save files are shared. If the person who made the save wants to share their Home Regions save file as well, they are free to do that and you would then place it in your settings folder and overwrite your previous file.

Hello! 

Settling in cities other than Forgotten Hollow creates new vampires, and vampires from Forgotten Hollow (such as Vlad) do not appear in other cities in the evenings. Is there any way to make premade vampires (even those living in different cities) appear in all cities without having to assign world exceptions to each?

You can give vampires like Vlad a filter exemption if you want them to cross over between Worlds specifically.

Oh that's great. I said that from memory because we spoke on SAD Discord once and you mentioned the exceptions.

Without this mod, having two high school lots would cause PCs to go to one of the two randomly. With this mod, would that behavior change? Would this change only for NPCs or would it possibly change for PCs? I would assume it would change only for NPCs, but I am curious lol

Home Regions doesn't restrict or affect where you send your own Sims to travel. It only affects the NPCs who show up once you are there. I can't speak for the functionality of any other mods.

This mod is perfect! But...do you think a "don't generate any new sims" option could be added in the future? *fingers crossed*

That would break the game. It needs to be able to generate Sims to fulfill different roles. If you try to prevent that, it will keep trying anyway and various terrible things will happen.
