A downloadable game for Windows

This is an early, barebones prototype of a strategy game I have been working on for the past few months. In this demo, you control a group of five mercenaries who you can command in battle.   The demo includes only one map, where you must escort four villagers to safety as their village is occupied by bandits.

Feel free to leave feedback regarding the game's difficulty, issues you encounter, or other thoughts you would like to share about the demo.  If you are struggling with the demo but still want to complete it I left extra items in the convoy to use that should let you have a much easier time.  To access these items go to inventory -> the character you want to give the item to -> convoy from the menu that is open when you start the game, however the map is balanced around you completing it with the items the characters already have in their inventory.

Sorry for the lack of an in-game tutorial.

Additionally, many assets are still placeholders, all dialogue in the demo is placeholder, and this demo contains no audio.

Controls:

-WASD is used to move the cursor and cycle through targets when performing an action that requires a target like talking, trading, attacking, or using a staff.

-Spacebar is used for selecting the unit that the cursor is currently hovering over, selecting the current target, or advancing dialogue.  You can also press space during enemy or ally turns to skip to the next turn, though this will be interrupted for things like character deaths or level-ups.

-Right Click is the back button, use it to exit out of the menu you are currently in or deselect the currently selected unit.

-Middle Mouse Click to bring of the stats of the character the cursor is currently hovering over.  It also can be used when hovering over an item with the mouse in any menu to view the items stats.

-Q and E are used to cycle through the tabs of the convoy or cycle through weapons before selecting your combat target.

-alt+f4 to quit

-Menus are traversed by clicking the options with a mouse.

-No support for key rebinding or controller yet unfortunately.

Other notes:

-Characters with blue shadows are controlled by you, characters with red shadows are enemies, and characters with green shadows are friendly NPCs

-When you hover over a character, their movement range is highlighted in blue and their attack range is highlighted in red.  press space to select a character and you can move them to a space in range, you can also have them act in the spot they are already standing.

-After you move your character, you will be presented with the actions they can take for the turn, such as attacking, trading items with an adjacent ally, or visiting a village.

-To win the map you must move a unit adjacent to each house and use the "Visit" command.

-Access the map menu by pressing spacebar on a tile with no unit or with a unit who has already moved this turn.  From this menu you can view a list of your units, view the win/lose conditions of the map, or end the turn.

-The game does not automatically end your turn after all characters have moved so go click the "End Turn" button on the map menu after moving all of your units to end your turn.

-Aspect ratios other than 16:9 are untested.

-??? has a speech bubble over his head when Cassius is selected.  Try talking to him.
