K-pop band SEVENTEEN achieved a remarkable feat by topping Japan's Oricon daily singles chart for two consecutive days with both its group and subunit releases.
According to the Oricon chart, SEVENTEEN's fourth Japanese single "Shohikigen" secured the top spot on the daily singles ranking as of Friday. Following closely behind in second place was the second single "TELEPARTY" by SEVENTEEN's subunit BSS — a trio composed of band members Seungkwan, DK and Hoshi.
This achievement comes after the Thursday chart revealed BSS’ "TELEPARTY" at No. 1 and "Shohikigen" at No. 2.
The 13-member boy band, consisting of members S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The 8, Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan, Vernon and Dino, continues to solidify its status as a leading force in K-pop.
The friendly competition between the band and its subunit showcases their immense popularity in Japan.
"Shohikigen," originally released on Nov. 27, recently reentered the charts and climbed to the top, demonstrating its enduring popularity.
The single previously swept the Oricon weekly singles and weekly combined singles charts dated Dec. 9. "Shohikigen" also achieved Double Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan after surpassing 500,000 copies within just five days of its release.
"TELEPARTY," BSS' second single, has also been making waves domestically, topping the latest weekly album charts on both the Circle Chart, operated by the Korea Music Content Association, and Hanteo Chart, Korea’s leading local album sales tracker.
SEVENTEEN is currently elevating its global presence through their Asia tour. Following its concerts in the Philippines this weekend, the group will continue the tour in Singapore next weekend and Indonesia and Thailand next month.
