  Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman possesses a well-developed research and innovation infrastructure, substantial human capital, and strong competitive advantages in training highly qualified scientific and academic personnel. The University's research achievements reflect contemporary advancements in global economic science, the values and principles of European integration, and the needs of Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction. An effective innovation ecosystem operates within the University, encompassing the full scientific cycle—from fundamental and applied research to the development and commercialization of innovative solutions.

  Objective. Activation of interdisciplinary scientific research based on open science principles, the generation and commercialization of new knowledge aimed at solving urgent problems of societal development and the post-war recovery of Ukraine’s economy.

  The strategic priorities for the University’s scientific development include:

  Enhancing the effectiveness of the University’s research ecosystem by integrating best practices from the European Research Area, adopting open science principles established by UNESCO and the European University Association, and aligning university scientific journals and monographs with international standards for inclusion in leading scientific databases such as Scopus and/or Web of Science.

  Advancing the internationalization of research activities, maintaining national leadership in science, and promoting the achievements of the University’s research schools by securing additional funding from European Union funds, utilizing grant opportunities, fostering partnerships with international research organizations in Ukraine, supporting academic mobility for researchers, and strengthening cooperation with partner countries and international alliances in science and innovation (including the Global Federation of Competitiveness Councils and the European Alliance of Universities in Social Sciences “CIVICA”).

  Improving the quality of training for doctoral candidates (PhD and Doctor of Science) by implementing the principles of the Council for Doctoral Education of the European University Association and leveraging the benefits of membership in the European Doctoral Association in Management and Business Administration (EDAMBA), including participation in summer research academies, PhD supervisors’ forums, dissertation competitions, and annual conferences. This strategic direction also envisages close cooperation between the University and employers to enhance the quality of PhD programs, develop practical research competencies, support research projects involving doctoral students and young scholars, and establish an infrastructure to foster student research through a comprehensive approach to motivation and engagement in department-wide and university-wide research projects, scientific conferences, academic competitions, and research olympiads.

  Strengthening corporate institutions for academic entrepreneurship, intellectual property rights, academic integrity, commercialization, and knowledge transfer by intensifying the activities of the University’s Science Park to accumulate and commercialize scientific ideas, inventions, and innovations developed by the University’s academic staff. This includes integrating the University into national and international research and consulting networks, expanding the activities of the University’s Startup School, Entrepreneurship Center, Business Clinic, and the Digital Accelerator “Innovative Ukraine,” establishing engineering schools, and deepening collaboration with national and international organizations and venture capital funds.

  Enhancing the University’s reputation through a strategic image policy based on its historical traditions, collective achievements, and best international practices. The objective is to strengthen the University’s position within the national and global academic landscape and establish it as one of the leading innovation and intellectual centres of research in Ukraine.

  • Advancing academic entrepreneurship and knowledge transfer.
