In the 29th edition of the UEP Foundation’s competition for the best bachelor’s and engineering thesis defended at the Poznań University of Economics and Business in the 2023/2024 academic year, the thesis titled “Detecting Human Faces Generated by Artificial Intelligence Models” won first place. The author of the thesis: Patryk Danielewicz, the supervisor: Prof. Krzysztof Węcel.

At the Poznań University of Economics and Business, an open scientific seminar organized by the Institute of Informatics and Quantitative Economics took place, entitled “Issues in Content Authorship Verification in the Context of Fake News Dissemination”. During the seminar, Ewelina Księżniak discussed topics related to stylometric methods for lie detection, encoding stylometric features using Transformer models, author profiling, and individuals’ susceptibility to fake news.
Prof. Krzysztof Węcel participated in the GOBLIN project (Global Network on Large-Scale, Cross-domain and Multilingual Open Knowledge Graphs) meeting held on February 10-11, 2025, at the Prague University of Economics and Business.
A scientific article dedicated to the application of blockchain technology in public business registers in Europe was published as open access. The research focuses on developing a multifaceted approach to selecting and implementing blockchain-based solutions in databases that hold legal and economic significance.
An inspiring seminar on AI regulations across various countries took place at the Poznań University of Economics and Business, as part of the third seminar on artificial intelligence and digital transformation – AITransformations. The event was held on January 13, 2025 in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation.
The deadline for submitting papers for BIS 2025 (25th International Conference on Business Information Systems) has been extended to January 31. In reference to the importance of artificial intelligence and digital transformation for business and their rapid development, the conference theme has been defined as “AI-driven business transformation: challenges and opportunities”.
Workshop for students focusing on the exploration and processing of online content were held at the Poznań University of Economics and Business. The session was led by Mateusz Kuczyński, a student at our university who combines his master’s studies in Informatics and Econometrics with work in the field of data exploration.
A research paper entitled “Supporting fact-checking process with IT tools” has been published under open access. The study presents a detailed analysis of the fact-checking process, based on a literature review and interviews with organizations specializing in this field. This combined theoretical knowledge with practical experiences of experts, which allowed to identify research gaps and challenges in current information verification methods.
Employees of the Department of Information Systems, Dr. Milena Stróżyna and Prof. Krzysztof Węcel, took part in the 10th Anniversary Scientific Conference on Business Informatics IwZ’2024. The conference topic was “Operational and strategic consequences and management forecasts of the digitalization of business processes”.
