  • The Integrated Community Case Management (ICCM) project in wajir is an equity-focused intervention aiming to improve access to quality essential health care for children under-five living in nomadic and semi-nomadic sites in Wajir county. The standard ICCM model employs Community Health Promoters (CHPs) to provide primary health care services beyond the health facility, diagnosing and treating for uncomplicated cases of malaria, pneumonia and diarrhea in the community. Save the Children, through the ICCM project, supported Wajir County's Department of Health by training 100 Community Health Promoters on the updated ICCM module. The training equipped them with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively diagnose and manage common childhood illnesses at the community level. The ICCM project also provides essential drugs and supplies for the community health promoters and supports county and sub-county health managers in conducting regular supportive supervision and mentorship for the community health promoters to enhance service delivery. Project Reach · The trained CHPs have conducted 8,893 household visits and provided personalized health education, early detection, and timely intervention for diseases. · The CHPs have so far offered iCCM services for 7,303 under five children across 65 nomadic and semi-nomadic sites. (Out of these, 1047 children have been treated for diarrhoea, 429 children were treated for mild fevers, 382 children treated for fast breathing, 1130 referred for services including immunization defaulters and zero dose children and 4315 children were visited and screened for malnutrition and caregivers received health promotion messages.) · CHPs have supported 195 community mobilization events/community action days to increase discussions on health problems and help galvanize specific actions based on the health issues facing the community.
