Save the Children UK's recent visit extended beyond Nairobi County to Turkana County where they experienced firsthand the impact of our work in Education, Child Protection, Health and Nutrition, Child Poverty, and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). Our commitment remains steadfast: building brighter futures for children across Kenya. 🏓 Spotlight on Nachukui Borehole - Installed in collaboration with the Turkana County Government, this borehole and solar pump is transforming lives. 📍 Who benefits? 12 km away, Nachukui Comprehensive School now enjoys clean water daily. The Nachukui Community Farm, where green vegetables now thrive, thanks to a reliable water source. A heartfelt thank you to our partners and supporters who make this possible. Together, we're reaching the most vulnerable and creating sustainable change. More still needs to be done and looking forward to further collaboration to ensure sustainable livelihoods for communities in Turkana County. Great to learn about Change the Game Academy, which is dedicated to strengthening grassroots organizations by equipping them with the tools to mobilize resources locally and advocate for their communities' needs. Instead of relying on foreign aid, Change the Game Academy is championing local fundraising and advocacy skills, helping organizations secure essential rights and services from duty bearers. "Change the Game encourages local organizations to adopt resource mobilization as both a strategy for growth and a way to build stronger connections with those they serve," says Emily Omudho, Livelihoods Lead, Kenya Community Development Foundation. #C4Ckenya #GlobaltoLocal #Localisation #Charter4Change

Localisation isn’t just policy—it’s practice. By centering local leadership, we honor the resilience, knowledge, and skills within Kenya's communities. This approach amplifies accountability, cultural relevance, and unlocks true potential. Sustainable development thrives when rooted in the hands of the communities themselves. #C4Ckenya #GlobaltoLocal #Localisation #Charter4Change

"Ireland’s commitment to localisation goes beyond principles—it’s about practice. We believe in not only transferring resources to local organisations but also empowering local decision-making. People at the grassroots know the challenges they face, and they know what they need." — Caitríona Ingoldsby, Ambassador of Ireland to Kenya

Local resource mobilisation is possible because we have the capacity." – Ken Odera, Program Coordinator, Kenya Community Development Foundation Local resource mobilisation isn't just a choice—it's essential for sustainable development. Here’s why it matters: 1. Donor landscapes are shrinking. 2. Competing priorities among donors make funding unpredictable. 3. Resource diversification strengthens resilience. 4. Reducing dependency on external funding builds self-reliance. By tapping into local resources, we empower our communities to create sustainable change from within.

Day 1 Highlights from #C4CKenya Annual Dialogue Our journey towards meaningful #Localisation continues. Here are some key takeaways: 1️⃣ We’re not there yet. There’s still a long road ahead for true localisation – but every step counts. 2️⃣ Embed localisation in our strategy. To make a real impact, we need to align localisation with our strategic vision. It’s time to look inward, assess where we are, and move forward with unified purpose. #GlobaltoLocal #Localisation #Charter4Change
