Feels like you had no issues understanding how the motherboard works, which given there were no tutorials was a big concern of ours... guess we ended up making it a bit too easy to be on the safe side! XD

Duly noted on progression and weapon variety, the orbital strike also needs a lot more polish to truly shine.

Glad you enjoyed the motherboard system <3
It had to be simplified a bit to fit the Survivor setting we picked for the jam, which meant hiding some menus and the option to remove pieces sadly (as they would go back in said menu).

Unfortunately, the partial invincibility of the gun enemies comes from a small bug we didn't manage to fix in time...

About the metal - when you die the first time the game should bring you to the main menu, where you can go to the "Upgrades" tab and reinforce your mods permanently for the next run. We don't show it at the start because you have no metal for upgrades anyway.

Please enjoy our submission for the GMTK Game Jam 2024: Armored Souls Survivors!

As we say on the Survivor game page, this is NOT a new game we are commencing, but a short demo we put together for the jam as the theme (Built to Scale) resonated strongly with the Motherboard system, and we wanted to experiment with it from a different angle for a few days.

If you've already played Armored Souls, we explained a bit about the differences between the two on the Survivors page.

Beat the first boss and you'll get a thing called T link, it splits your circuit in two and you can connect 2 weapons. If you get more, you can connect more and more mods.

At the start yes - get to the motherboard and you can make everything custom. Dash, heal, etc... Thank you for trying out the demo, btw!

We just published our first-ever Demo on itch.io and wanted to give you some info about Armored Souls.

Armored Souls is a Soulslike Action game with Roguelike elements and challenging boss fights set in a machine-driven dystopia.

We are working hard to make a kickass game centered around building (literally!) your character and clashing with mean bosses.

In the Demo, you will play with two of the game's cardinal features: the Boss Battles and the Motherboard.
