#Letta this morning pointed me to a major stepping stone to a more competitive and resilient Europe, notably the thousands of #SMEs navigating the legal patchwork of the collection of 27 member states: a European Code of Business Law. See page 107 and on: "For entrepreneurs and SMEs navigating the Single Market, the landscape of business law presents a daunting complexity that comes with considerable expense. Entrepreneurs eager to establish a business, find themselves compelled to incorporate as a French, German or Italian entity due to the absence of a EU company framework suitable for SMEs. Moreover, their financing options are predominantly national. (...) they must adhere to that country's adaptations of (...) directives." Etcetera. I'm calling on the bright minds of N-EXTLAW, like Marija Bartl Melanie Rieback Jennifer Hinton Prof. Dr. Anne Sanders, M.Jur. and many more, and MEPs like René Repasi in the #EuropeanParliament to go and draft this Code this term, especially in the light of many succession problems foreseen in the coming years of babyboomers that want to preserve the added value of their origin story, their purpose. A European framework for #companylaw would do justice to Europe's entrepreneurs. And we can even make a better version that refrains from the harmful extraction of means that's embedded in today's national versions. By leveraging on purposefully designed interactive installations and on #data-driven engagement, cultural #institutions can promote informed, sustainable behaviors. This was the gist of Alessandro Masserdotti’s address to the ABI - Italian Banking Association where the Dotdotdot co-founder talked about the key role design and cultural institutions can and should play in fostering the ecologic transition. In particular, the creation of emotionally-involving narrative environments have an extreme nudging power: by engaging visitors in an #activeexperience, they are the perfect tool to soft-communicate crucial messages to large audiences and thus raise #awareness on pressing issues such as energy consumption, circular economy, and sustainable fashion. Once again this year, Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and Startup Genome have collaborated to analyse and enhance Turin's entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2024. The #GSER analyzes data from more than 4.5 million companies in more than 300 entrepreneurial innovation ecosystems around the world. It provides a comprehensive overview of startup trends and ranks the top 40 global ecosystems, emerging ecosystems, and a regional ranking. This year Turin has moved up more than 20 positions and entered the ranking of the 100 best emerging ecosystems for the first time. The Czech Republic's decision to align with European cryptocurrency regulations is an excellent move to ensure financial stability and consumer protection. 👍 However, it remains to be seen how these rules will be enforced and whether the supervisory body will be able to effectively enforce the rules. Italy’s largest bank, Intesa Sanpaolo, has announced a significant restructuring plan that will shape its future: 📉 9,000 jobs to be cut by 2027 (10% of workforce) 📈 3,500 new hires focused on AI and digital skills Key points: • 4,000 employees offered early retirement or EU Solidarity Fund access • 5,000 roles to be naturally phased out • 2,000 new hires to replace early retirees • 1,500 “hybrid” contracts for part-time bank work and consulting This move is expected to save €500 million annually in personnel costs from 2028.
