Malayalam actor Vinayakan has once again found himself at the centre of a controversy after a video allegedly showing him engaging in obscene behaviour went viral on social media. In the clip, a man, purported to be Vinayakan, can be seen standing on the balcony of a flat in a residential complex, shouting abuses at his neighbours. As the video progresses, his mundu (dhoti) appears to come loose, though he makes little effort to prevent exposing himself.

The footage, seemingly recorded from a nearby building, further shows him losing balance and falling onto the balcony floor. However, he continues to hurl abuses while remaining in an exposed state. The clip quickly went viral on social media, drawing sharp reactions from netizens.

Now, Vinayakan, who rose to national fame by playing the main antagonist in director Nelson’s Rajinikanth-starrer Jailer, has stepped forward, issuing an apology, albeit without directly addressing the incident. “As a film actor and as a person, I am unable to handle many things. I apologise to the public for all the negative energy that has come from my side. Let the discussions continue,” he wrote on Facebook.

In September 2024, Vinayakan was booked by the Rajiv Gandhi International (RGI) Airport police in Hyderabad after misbehaving with airline gate staff. He was allegedly intoxicated and argued with the staff while travelling from Kochi to Goa via Hyderabad, leading to his handover to the CISF.

Similarly, in October 2023, he landed in prison after causing a ruckus at the Ernakulam North police station in Kochi. Reports suggested that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time. The incident occurred when he was summoned to the station to resolve a private dispute with his wife.

Vinayakan was last seen in the Malayalam comedy drama Thekku Vadakku.
