Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Thursday and discussed various key issues concerning the state, including the development of the Naxal-hit Gadchiroli district.
“Had a long, insightful discussion on several key matters with him,” Fadnavis said in a post on X, after the meeting.
Fadnavis requested the central government’s support in developing Gadchiroli as a mining hub, saying that the Maharashtra government has taken significant steps in the steel sector, “especially in developing Gadchiroli as the ‘steel city’”, as per a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office.
Fadnavis also discussed key matters related to the Nagpur airport, which has been progressing at a fast pace, and sought the Centre’s assistance in resolving pending issues, ensuring the project’s smooth execution. The disbursement of funds to local self-governing bodies under the 15th Finance Commission was also discussed and PM Modi responded positively, the statement added.
