This ensured the farm economy and labor productivity growth; however, return on assets and on investment has declined. To address this, we aim - to assess the country economy according to the type of farming and production potential effects of factors of production volumes change. The paper examines the productive potential of family farms and the current status of the rational combination of factors influence the production scale. Work done on the analysis of scientific literature on mathematical statistics methods farms use to assess production potential. Farm production potential and its use of integrated assessment, based on the estimated productive functions for each group of farms according to farm size, allows the individual to assess the impact of agricultural production value, per hectare of production volumes to the quality of land, fixed assets, working capital assets and labor force and change. Analysis and estimation of survey in country farms according to farm size of the available production capacity and production volume comparison with the calculated parameters showed that a considerable part of the farm lacks sufficient emphasis on the productive potential: approximately 40 per cent cereals and oilseed rape, 50 per cent crop and dairy farming and 62 percent mixed farm have increased agricultural production fully using the available production capacity. Estimated production functions for groups of farms according to type of farming can be used for agricultural production capacity utilization rate and the individual performance factors for evaluation. However, intensifying the production of variable factors of production value, the relationship between them and hence their influence on production results are unstable. Therefore, on purpose objectively to evaluate the achievements of the farm production improvement and better use of production capacity in respect of every 2–3 years is appropriate to recalculate the regression equation. The study was conducted on the basis of, 2004–2008 Lithuanian Farm Accountancy Data Network of statistical data through traditional (absolute, relative and medium-size comparison, the index), mathematical statistics (correlation polynomial regression analysis), heuristic (professional experience, intuition) methods.

The paper will focus on sectorial productivity and profitability indicators included in the Common Monitoring and Evaluation Framework (CMEF) of rural development policy in the EU and carry out a comparative statistical analysis with policy support indicators over the period 2000 to 2011. The results of the analysis indicate that the impact of RDP funding on sectorial economic development is rather limited and other intervening factors play a much bigger role. Further case study analysis is required to examine the specific causal relationships between the main determinants of competitiveness and RDPs at regional level. This would create a better understanding of how specific regional factors can hinder or foster positive economic impacts of rural development measures on agricultural sectors in the EU.

According to chosen indicators the economic competitiveness of Lithuanian farms is evaluated and comparison with EU countries is presented. The article concluded by saying that there are reserves available for increasing competitiveness of Lithuanian farms. The best indicators of competitiveness may be reached, when the provision of capital and labour force of the farm corresponds to the area of arable land and the scale of production.

Competitiveness of agricultural products is closely related to production costs and profits. However, the tendency of the profit decrease was observed: support in total profit occupies the major share. The purpose of this paper is to assess the results of the main agricultural products – profit and its trends. The article discusses the profit theoretical and practical issues forecast. The focus is on the analysis of the profit of main crop and livestock products and profit affecting and factors. The profit of main agricultural products up to 2013 was projected using the AGMEMOD model taking into account the internal and external factors changes. The paper was prepared under the research project „Profit variant projections of the Lithuanian Agricultural sector up to 2013“ funded by Research Council of Lithuania and carried out under the direction of the Council supported activity „Scientists initiative to develop projects“.

It is not difficult to indicate in which country system is more adequate or sustainable, but it is not described, which of system parameters should be compared for evaluating of efficiency. This problem is more visible in analysis of farmers’ pensions, which are different from common system. Moreover, with its own classification system of pension schemes, it could be much easier to identify areas of need for reform, because compared with each other pension schemes identification of weak sides of the system takes less time. The aim of research is to analyze currently existing state social insurance schemes of farmers’ pensions in the European Union member states and to provide proposals on how to classify them. The methods of research – literature review, document content analysis, comparative analysis, and good practice analysis. It was defined three criteria of classification of systems of farmers’ pensions: integration to common system, type of subsidies and tax burden. JEL codes: H550, Q100.

The purpose of this paper is to present economical results of agricultural activities of the EU-27 for the period 2004-2009 and to set up the factors influencing them. Objectives for the following task are as follow: to evaluate the macroeconomic situation, the main agricultural products price level and to distinguish the reasons among them, to assess the total agricultural production value and its structure, the agricultural production efficiency and to explore the influence of the direct payments to the profit in the EU-27 contexts. Actual 2004–2009 economic statistics data of the EU-27 was used for the paper. The main methods used are as follow: heuristic, statistical and method of the complex comparative analysis. The paper presents a modified complex method of analysis, through which the EU-27 countries by the key macro indicators were compared and the significance of each indicator was determined. Finally total agricultural output value and its structure, the main agricultural commodity prices, direct payments, expenses, profits, cost-effectiveness evaluation of the factors affecting these indicators were estimated in the EU-27 countries.
