My 2 Cents Worth : India will definitely be taking immediate measures including preventive and punitive action under the relevant SCR & that provided for under its laws as the criminal acts, including against civilians, committed with the intent to cause death or serious bodily injury with the purpose to provoke a state of terror in the general public or in a group of persons or particular persons (Hindus). But will India receive International Cooperation from other States in accordance with their obligations under international law, in order to find, deny safe haven and bring to justice, on the basis of the principle to extradite or prosecute, any person who supports, facilitates, participates or attempts to participate in the financing, planning, preparation or commission of terrorist acts or provides safe havens ? Future-Blind Promoters Some promoters cannot see the future. They try to keep the company afloat even when they see the writings on the wall. The board also keep its eye closed. One example was King Fisher Airlines. Mr Vijay Mallya started a luxury airline in the domestic sector. Any expert would advise that a luxury airline cannot be profitable just by flying in the domestic sector. Mr Mallya thought that after five years, it would get the license to fly internationally as per the then government regulations. He could not imagine the five-year period might be too long in certain circumstances. Global economic depression, skyrocketing fuel costs, and the emergence of no-frills airlines grounded the airlines in 2012. A recent example is Biju's, which aims to provide online and video-based learning. Its promoters (Baiju Ravindran and others) thought that the company would maintain the growth achieved during the COVID years would be maintained. They could not see that growth would be negative when society would come out of the COVID pandemic. Today (September 7, 2024), the Economic Times reported that the two auditors resigned within a short span. The second auditor reported fraud to the board and, without getting a response, reported it to the government. Boards forget that risk management and providing checks and balances are their responsibility. Whom to blame - the promoters or the board?
