Shaping young minds is no easy feat, but shaping minds that shape young minds is an even greater challenge. At The Little Republic, Trivandrum, we tackled this challenge head-on and it proved to be completely worth it! By exploring why we are "facilitators" wearing different hats, not just teachers, we connected our journey with our core values and how we would like to shape them going forward. Here is what we covered in our Facilitator Readiness Program: 1. Innovative Teaching Methods: Adopted Multiple Intelligences Theory: We integrated Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences theory and the 6 tumblers of learning, ensuring our approach to experiential learning bridges the inner and outer worlds of our learners effectively. Key Indicators to Implement Learning Through Play: Utilising the Lego Foundation's "Learning through Play" experience tool, we ensured our learning methods are both invitational and intentional, significantly boosting student engagement. 2. Comprehensive Educational Programs: Partner Programs: Collaborated with programs like Handwriting Without Tears, Animal Fun for social and emotional intelligence, and UNESCO's Child Safety Program, enhancing our commitment to holistic education and student safety. Facilitator Roles: Embraced the role of facilitators rather than traditional teachers, fostering a dynamic and multifaceted learning environment that aligns with our core values. 3. Professional and Personal Growth: Team Excellence: Worked alongside talented individuals who share a focused vision, contributing to a collaborative and innovative educational setting. Passion for Learning: Aligned personal passion for learning and facilitation with professional practice, and creating a fulfilling and impactful work environment. 4. Commitment to Future-Ready Education: 21st Century Skills: Dedicated to equipping our young learners with the skills necessary to thrive in the 21st century, reaffirming our mission with renewed vigor and innovative strategies.
