It was great to re-connect with my friend, Gopal Malakar about two decades later ! Corporations accumulate #debt while banks face non-performing assets, hindering lending and economic recovery. Resolving demands strategic interventions like debt restructuring and banking reforms for sustainable growth. Firms borrowing abroad during a period of #Rupee strength suffered significant losses due to subsequent Rupee depreciation, leading to higher debt repayment costs and reduced cash flow. By 2013, one-third of corporate debt was held by firms with insufficient interest coverage, mainly in Power and metals sectors. Our Partner & Head-FinTech, Shilpa Mankar Ahluwalia shared her thoughts with ETBFSI around the RBI’s guidelines for LSPs. As an introduction to the new draft guidelines, RBI said that the identity of a potential lender may be unknown to a borrower in cases where an LSP has arrangements with multiple lenders. Commenting on this, she highlighted that the move will certainly improve product and pricing information gaps. Consumers have different financial requirement and this will allow borrowers to find the “best loan fit".
