About

For a young boy born into a humble family of schoolteachers in the small district of Ambala, Haryana, the idea of dreaming big came with its limits. My parents, recognizing that I was good in studies, steered me towards a career in medicine. At the time, I didn’t even consider that there might be other paths to choose from.

Despite this uncertainty, I found solace in the encouragement from my family and took my first steps towards becoming a doctor. My journey, initially without any guiding poles or points of reference, gained momentum when a mentor urged me to train with the best minds in ophthalmology. His advice stuck, and led me to the South of India, where I had the privilege of learning from visionary eye car leaders, like Dr. GN Rao of LV Prasad Eye Institute and other luminaries in the field who generously shared their knowledge with me.

After completing my MS, I trained at Sankara Nethralaya, followed by CMC Vellore, and then LV Prasad Eye Institute. These experiences at some of the best eye care institutes in India, ingrained in me the core tenets and values of eye care that colonized every part of my mind. The rigorous training transformed me into a cornea specialist, deeply attuned to both my patients’ pain and the diseases I sought to cure.

After mastering cutting-edge surgical techniques and rubbing shoulders with the best in ophthalmology, I returned to my hometown, Ambala. I was driven by a dream of creating a high-class eye care institution in North India, similar to what I had seen in the South. This vision has remained unchanged for close to two decades now.

With a steadfast commitment to values such as 1. Patient First, 2. Ethics, 3. Positivity for All, 4. Compassion, and 5. Operational Excellence, I founded LJ Eye Institute on July 1, 2017, with my wife, also an eye specialist & Retina surgeon, by my side. Together, we nurtured this budding institute, earning the trust and goodwill of patients, many of whom traveled hundreds of miles seeking hope and healing.

Seven years have passed since the inception of LJ Eye Institute, and the shy, self-doubting boy has reached an important milestone. Today, I share this story on behalf of that boy— the doctor, the leader and the lifelong learner—grateful for the divine grace that allowed me to fulfill this dream and with that several others that I could explore along the way.

I now aspire to be the guiding mentor for others, just as someone once was for me. I hope that one day soon, no patient will need to suffer needlessly due to a lack of good doctors nearby.
