Can you identify this landmark innovation in #MercedesBenz history? A significant milestone in #passivesafety for Mercedes-Benz, the development of this innovation began as early as1966. A corresponding patent was registered in 1971. As the first production-ready solution, it was introduced in the S-Class of model series 126 in 1981.

We are thrilled to share that Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India has signed a five-year Master Research Agreement (MRA) with Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani for advanced technology research. This agreement will establish a framework for joint research, focused on building #IP in pioneering tech solutions across #genAI, #electricmobility and software development. Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India is proud to present the design guidelines and implementation toolkit for ‘Building 15-Minute Neighbourhoods’. Developed in collaboration with Jana Urban Space, these guidelines highlight key strategies that cities can employ to facilitate 15-minute neighbourhoods, where most amenities are accessible within a 15-minute walk or cycle ride. Addressing the need for sustainable urban planning in India, the guidelines provide actionable steps to create vibrant neighbourhoods with active transportation, safe public spaces, sustainable markets, and inclusive social spaces accessible to all. Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India is excited to announce the launch of 'Enroute: A Mobility-As-A-Service Challenge', an #innovation challenge for startups to enhance public transit efficiency in Bengaluru. In partnership with Villgro and WRI India, the initiative will leverage #opendata from Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) and Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to create user-centered transit solutions that improve the commuter experience. This initiative envisions an integrated solution that enables commuters to access real-time updates on public transit schedules, plan their journeys efficiently, and pay for all their tickets through one unified portal. At Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India, we are driven by our vision to protect the planet and pave the way for a sustainable future. This #WorldEnvironmentDay, we embodied the theme "Our Land, Our Future" with impactful initiatives that highlighted the need to preserve the environment and educate young minds. Employee volunteers participated in a high-energy plog run around Bengaluru’s Agara Lake. Volunteers gained valuable insights on waste management and collected over 245 kg of plastic waste. Our Bengaluru office also welcomed stunning Lantana elephant sculptures, which showcased how we protect our natural ecosystems while upcycling invasive Lantana stems as part of our Clean Green Nandi project. In Pune, we engaged with 100+ enthusiastic students at the New English School, raising awareness about sustainability issues and empowering them to become sustainability champions. We also offered saplings to employees at all our offices in Bengaluru and Pune, encouraging them to reduce carbon footprint and contribute to a greener planet.
