Tomar have co-authored an article titled 'Play Hard but Play Fair: The Supreme Court Conclusively Rejects Unilateral Arbitrator(s) Appointments' which deals with the landmark decision passed by the 5-judge bench of the Supreme Court declaring unilateral appointment of arbitrators invalid and against the principles of fair and equal treatment. The article analyses the conflicting views taken up by courts regarding the issue and discusses the view Supreme Court took to strike a balance between party autonomy and equal treatment in an arbitration proceeding. AZB & Partners recently represented the book running lead managers on Swiggy’s initial public offering (“IPO”), namely, Kotak Mahindra Capital Company Limited, J.P. Morgan India Private Limited, Citigroup Global Markets India Private Limited, BofA Securities India Limited, Jefferies India Private Limited, ICICI Securities Limited and Avendus Capital Private Limited.   The IPO was undertaken by way of a fresh issue and an offer for sale, which aggregated to approx. ₹ 113.27 billion, and is the first successfully completed IPO pursuant to a confidentially filed draft offer document. The AZB team comprised our Senior Partners, Varoon Chandra and Lionel D'Almeida; our Senior Associates, Sweta Ananthanarayanan, Aratrika Choudhuri and Anusha Mehta; and our Associates, Tanaiy Tewari, Harsh Vardhan Singh and Damini Mathur.

AZB & Partners advised Max Estates Limited on its recent fund raise of upto INR 150 crores through a preferential issue of convertible warrants to one of the promoters and a public shareholder. AZB & Partners advised Wipro on its successful transaction with AmpIN C&I Power Private Limited for setting up solar captive power project and purchase of power for meeting its renewable energy demands in Tamil Nadu. For this, AmpIN C&I has incorporated a special purpose vehicle, AmpIN Energy C&I One Private Limited, in which Wipro has made an investment of approximately INR 2.4 crores with a view to further enhance the utilisation of renewable energy resources for its offices in Tamil Nadu and towards fulfilling its ESG goals.
