About us

open eir builds and manages the largest wholesale telecoms network in Ireland. Every day, on behalf of our service provider customers, we connect hundreds of Irish homes, businesses and communities to our high-speed fibre broadband network. Our fibre network now passes 1.7 million homes and businesses in cities, towns and villages across the country. We have also committed to extending our high-speed fibre to the home footprint in rural Ireland by connecting an additional 330,000 homes and businesses to speeds of up to 1,000Mb/s by 2020; transforming how those communities work, learn, live and play. open eir's national fibre rollout will bring the number of premises in Ireland with access to high-speed internet to 1.9 million in 2020.

We are delighted to share our latest community initiative we have had the pleasure of facilitating: the transformation of Shannon street cabinets into vibrant works of art. In collaboration with local artist Rachel McManus, Creative Places Shannon and Shannon Community Partnership, we embarked on a journey to add a splash of colour and creativity to Shannon. The result? A stunning showcase of talent and community pride. Our video captures the essence of this project, showcasing the transformation, and the artists' inspiration. #communitypride #keepingirelandconnected

Last Tuesday, April 16th, we hosted a bake sale to support Caitlin (daughter of one of our colleagues Andy Ball). Caitlin will be embarking on a significant journey to Mozambique in July as an aid volunteer with SERVE in Solidarity (Ireland) SERVE is an organisation dedicated to providing equal opportunities to those facing poverty in Southern Africa and South America. Through partnerships with local communities and organisations, SERVE offers vocational and educational programs aimed at empowering young people to secure employment or start their own businesses. Caitlin, a 4th year engineering student from Trinity College Dublin, will be contributing to an infrastructure project in Mozambique. Thanks to the generosity of eir employees, the bake sale raised an impressive €1500. A special thank you to John Gregg for spearheading the event, as well as to all the talented bakers who contributed. Best wishes to Caitlin and Mark for a safe journey—we look forward to hearing about your experience when you return. #keepingirelandconnected
