Recently, David Chambers, Cormac Reilly, Johnny McArdle, and Helen Bennett visited The Red Door Project in Drogheda. Members of the team from Platin Works recently ran/walked the Bru Na Boinne 5K in aid of the Red Door Project. Ollie Mac Gabhainn from The Red Door Project gave the team from Platin Works an extensive tour of premises, which showcased the great work being done. The Red Door Project was established in 2010 and focuses on offering and providing confidential assistance and services in response to individuals, families and the community that are affected by drug and alcohol use.

The countdown to the EDP fundraising for the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity is on! Fundraising finishes on July 31st at 12pm. This week, we highlight two Irish Cement employees who are participating in EDP 2024: 📢 John Blackwell’s team, Man vs Machine, mentored by Donnchadh Woods (ACCA), are collectively walking the height of the world’s 100 tallest buildings, adding up to an impressive 1.5 million steps over the entire month. 📢 Ger Corridan’s team, the Beatles, will be climbing one of Ireland's most famous mountains, Croagh Patrick, on July 26th. Following on from last week’s highlight’s, there are more upcoming charity events raising money for the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity for the Employee Development Programme 2024 (EDP). Down on July 28th. 📢 On Saturday July 27th, Kenan Johnson’s group, 5 Alive, will be hosting a family fun day of pitch & putt in Kingswood, Dublin. 📢 Bryan Martin’s group, the Rock ‘n’ Roaders, will be raising money by water-skiing at Kilglass Lough on the River Shannon in Co. Platin Works hosted a coffee morning this week supporting the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity. The charity was selected as the partner charity for the Employee Development Programme 2024 (EDP). We were delighted to see such a big turnout and many thanks to Natalie Ryan -MHFA- for taking time to visit Platin and speak about the important work of the charity. Also, a big thank you to Brendan Morris, one of the participants in this year's EDP, for organising the event.

It is great to know that cement made in Platin, just down the M1 from Grange Close in Dundalk, is being used in the concrete for these innovative 3D printed concrete homes.
The three social housing units at Grange Close in Dundalk for Louth County Council will be the first 3D Construction Printed Ready-Mix Concrete homes in Ireland and the EU when completed in October 2024. Congratulations to all graduates on completing their exam and presentations! On Friday the 28th of June, graduates from across Irish Cement and Ireland Materials presented their projects to Senior Management from Irish Cement Limited, Roadstone Ltd., Northstone (NI) Limited, Kemek Ltd. and Ibec Facilitator, Fintan Ryan. Graduates presented innovative solutions focused on operational excellence, performance improvement, health and safety, sustainability, and inclusion & diversity. Many of these graduate-led projects are already being implemented and are adding real value to the business. In the first year of their graduate programme, as well as gaining hands on operational experience, responsibility and ownership from day one, graduates from across the CRH Irish operations complete a tailored IBEC Diploma in Professional Competence accredited by Technical University Dublin.
