What a way to kick off the summer school holidays! ☀️ 3 days at Ireland’s favourite family music festival and smiley happy faces at our festival activation partner AIB’s Eco Adventure at Kaleidoscope 2024, presented by Glenveagh. The FUEL brand experience team created AIB’s Eco Adventure festival activation which was all about ‘Edu-tainment’– blending education with entertainment to teach festival-goers about sustainability in the most fun way possible. From exciting challenges, interactive games and even festival ticket giveaways 🎟️✨ The FUEL content team has had the pleasure to work with TV presenter Anna Daly and her 3 boys Rhys, Euan and James, as well as the AIB Digital Content Team 🎥 to shoot and produce a series of pre-event and on-site content for AIB at this year’s Kaleidoscope festival. We can’t wait for next year already 🎉

Growing up they offer a safe haven for us to express the thoughts and emotions we're generally not yet fully literate in ourselves. Their confidence and power is captivating, the obstacles and challenges they're faced with sit in a Venn diagram with our own in many ways and their resilience in the face of systemic [insert inherited historical cultural failure here] gives us hope and inspiration. Anyone who knows me will, at some point, have been forcefed an Ariana Grande gif, reference, music video clip or general rant about how deep I stan her (the obsession is real). So in celebration of #pride and #pridemonth this year, 1.4 have allowed me to submit a love letter of sorts to the #creativity of Grande's #music and #musicvideo back catalogue. From the unparalleled cinematic artistry of Hannah Lux Davis numerous impeccable videos ("Focus" is frankly a masterpiece) to Dave Meyers' God is a woman call to arms and most recently Christian Breslauer's new era Ari with its Michelle Pfeiffer Catwoman callbacks (IYKYK), Grande's library of visuals decisively puts to bed any debate over whether the music video industry is dead or dying. It's not. Because iconography, #choreography and glamour will never go out of #fashion. So this month, pick your Pop Princess, unashamedly lip-sync around the house, half-ass the choreo at every opportunity you get, find allyship in the the lyrics and reference their look however you see fit. But most importantly, "if you find yourself in a dark situation, just turn on your light and be like 'Yes, and?'" At FUEL we like to take time out from organising experiences so that we can live some experiences ourselves - it's a huge part of how we stay connected to culture and make sure we're keeping an eye on what really delights and entertains fans and audiences alike. So this weekend we took ourselves down to GamerFest Dublin at the RDS - Dublin's leading gaming expo and a meeting place for brands to connect with this exciting community. Amongst the brands present were eir Ireland Broadband, demonstrating seamless online gaming (no excuses for losing to lag here!) and Unilever's Pot Noodle (for a quick snack when you don't want to put the controller down) and Lynx (because sometimes you need a deodorant bath after an all night gaming session!). One of the biggest takeaways though was the sheer diversity of the fans in attendance. There's often a tendency to think of gamers in a very specific, and not particularly accurate, stereotypical way. What we saw on the floor of the RDS was girl gamers as young as 6 taking their first steps into Virtual Reality with the Meta Quest 3, twenty-something cosplayers delighting other guests with their themed getup, and fifty-something dads playing Mario Kart with their sons on the SNES and reliving their youth. Gaming is really about creating a space for people of all ages to come together and share in a moment of fun and GamerFest absolutely nailed it.
