1. In ice hockey, to stay in the area of the ice that corresponds to one's position. Let the centerman handle that part of the ice. If you're gonna play left wing, then just skate your lane.
2. To not interfere in someone else's affairs; to not pry or be nosy. Often used as an imperative. Skate your lane, will you? I can take care of my problems just fine. I really wish she would skate her lane and stop asking me about my finances.
