To not overstuff one's luggage or bring an excessive amount of luggage; to bring with one only the essentials for a trip. I always try to pack light when I'm flying alone so I can fit my suitcase in the overhead compartment. A: "What the heck do you need two suitcases for? We're only going away for a week!" B: "How can I pack light when we have so many fancy events on our itinerary?"
