University of Maryland Directory

All faculty, staff, and students (as well as sponsored affiliates) have records in the University Directory. Those records contain the standard office and telephone contact information as well as user ID and passphrase information.

Visit your Directory Profile page to learn more about the Directory passphrase.

Directory Profile Page View all of your Directory information and set up or update your verified phone here. You can also change your passphrase for your UMD Directory ID here. This view may display more information about your account than the Directory search.

Activate Account New UMD community members, activate your University Directory ID here. You may then use this ID and passphrase combination to log into various other applications such as PHR timesheets, ARES applications, Testudo, and ELMS. Directory Search Search the Directory for faculty, staff, or student contact information.

Set Passphrase If your passphrase has been reset by the IT Service Desk, you can change it here. Forgot Passphrase If you forgot your existing passphrase and have a Verified Phone set up, you may self-service reset your password.

About the University Directory

The University of Maryland Directory uses a technology called Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP). LDAP is an industry standard for organizing data of all kinds for easy and flexible retrieval. The Directory might be referred to by IT professionals as the LDAP Directory.

UMD applications are increasingly being designed to use the Directory for information as well as user ID and passphrase verification.
