Allen Stuart Drury (2 September 1918 – 2 September 1998) adalah seorang novelis Amerika. Ia menulis novel tahun 1959 Advise and Consent, yang membuatnya memenangkan Penghargaan Pulitzer untuk Fiksi pada 1960.[1][2][3][4]
Kehidupan awal dan leluhur
[sunting | sunting sumber]Drury lahir pada 2 September 1918 di Houston, Texas, dari pasangan Alden Monteith Drury (1895-1975), seorang manajer industri sitrus, broker real estate, dan agen asuransi, dan Flora Allen (1894-1973), seorang perwakilan legislatif untuk Asosiasi Orangtua-Guru California.[5] Keluarganya pindah ke Whittier, California, di mana Alden dan Flora memiliki seorang putri, Anne Elizabeth (1924-1998.) Drury adalah keturunan langsung dari Hugh Drury (1616-1689)[6] dan Lydia Rice (1627-1675), putri dari Edmund Rice (1594-1663), semuanya adalah imigran awal dari Koloni Teluk Massachusetts.[7]
