Tentang kami

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been working in Indonesia since 1975. The country office is in the capital Jakarta. Indonesia has been classed as a middle-income country since 2007. The country is a member of G20 – the Group of Twenty of the world’s major industrial and emerging economies – and plays a significant role in the region. Jakarta hosts the Secretariat of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Indonesia is therefore one of the global development partners of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). These are emerging economies that play a crucial role in achieving international development goals. GIZ is working in Indonesia on behalf of BMZ. Other parties that commission GIZ to carry out projects include the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), the German Federal Foreign Office and the European Union. German-Indonesian cooperation focuses on three priority areas: - Energy - Environmental protection - Technical and vocational education and training (TVET)/economic development It also covers the cross-cutting issues of good governance and cooperation with the private sector. Indonesia plays a key role in the context of BMU’s international cooperation because of its importance for climate change mitigation and biodiversity conservation. GIZ’s office in Jakarta is also responsible for regional projects implemented in conjunction with the ASEAN Secretariat. The regional cooperation between Germany and ASEAN that GIZ supports concentrates in the areas of Environment & Climate Change, Regional Economic Integration and Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Development.

👩💻 Have you ever wondered if digital innovations are inclusive to everyone, including people with disabilities? 🤳 With the rapid development of the #digitaleconomy, we need to ensure that everyone has equal access to information and resources. However, when it comes to #ecommerceservices, consumers with disabilities often encounter issues in accessing and navigating the online platforms. If these barriers are left unaddressed, they will be further excluded from participating in the digital economy. 🤝 Over the past few years, #GIZ has been working to engage this topic in our work. As part of #ASEANGerman portfolio on #sustainableeconomicedevelopment, the ASEANGermanPROTECT project has initiated various collaborations with regional and national partners on protecting vulnerable consumers topic. In Indonesia, we recently supported the Center for Indonesian Policy Studies in organising a panel discussion and a workshop on creating inclusive and accessible businesses for consumers with disabilities as part of #DigiWeek2024. 💬 Experts and practitioners from the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, the National Consumer Protection Agency (#BPKN), Sunyi Coffee and the National Disabilities Commission participated in an insightful and engaging policy discussion. Around 30 MSMEs from various sectors also attended the workshop and expressed interest in making their businesses more accessible - in the spirit of #leavenoonebehind. As recommendations for the future Indonesian government, DigiWeek has successfully compiled a Policy Communique, which can be downloaded from https://lnkd.in/gxDwxeGiand. Plastic can be convenient, but that is exactly why it becomes a threat to the environment. The ease of plastic-use and the take-make-dispose mentality sets aside the importance of product design geared towards recyclability and reusability, and neglects single-use plastics as products and chemicals of concern harmful to the environment. On behalf of the ASEAN-German Cooperation Project 3RproMar, we invite you to its 3rd Webinar Series session: “Advancing Knowledge for Sustainable Plastic Management: 'Problematic, Unnecessary, and Avoidable Plastics', Microplastics, and Product Design for Recyclability and Reusability” 📅8 August 2024, 14.00-16.00 (GMT +7) 💻via MS Teams (click the link in the event page below on 8 August 2024 at 14.00 GMT+7) This webinar aims to align with the fifth session of UNEP’s Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment (INC-5), by sharing knowledge on existing practices, policies, and scientific findings regarding problematic plastics and product design in the ASEAN region. Organised in partnership with the The World Bank, the session will be presented and facilitated by cyclos GmbH and Lasaju Consulting Sdn Bhd, and featuring a speaker from the Norsk institutt for vannforskning (NIVA) / Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA). Open for public! See you there! #circulareconomy #GIZ #Indonesia #GIZWorks #ASEAN #INC5 #ILBI #Microplastics

🌊 Have you done your part to protect our coastal and marine ecosystems? The spirit of World Environment Day continues. Under the ASEAN German portfolio cooperation, the GIZ Reduce, Reuse, Recycle to Protect Marine Environment and Coral Reefs (3RproMar) project, in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan) and the Office of Environment and Forestry of Manado City (DLHK Manado), organised a Coastal Clean-Up in Manado City on June 12, 2024. Over 200 participants, including school children, participated at Karang Ria Beach and collected an impressive 610.75 kg of waste. The event also saw the exciting launch of "Opa Can," the mascot for Manado's 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle) campaign. "Opa Can," a wise grandfather figure from the Coelacanth fish species, symbolises the importance of recycling and environmental stewardship. With the support of the German Government (BMZ) through the 3RproMar project, GIZ fosters collaboration across stakeholders to protect our environment. Join us in preserving the strength and beauty of our ecosystems for today and future generations! Photo: GIZ/3RproMar #WorldEnvironmentDay #CoastalCleanup #GIZ #ASEAN #Germany

How do people in Indonesia view Germany? How are Germany’s efforts in connection with this geopolitically key country in South-East Asia? How important is Germany for Indonesia today? Does Indonesia see Germany as a partner with whom it can pursue shared interests and values? These and similar questions were explored in a series of around 40 interviews with Indonesian personalities from the fields of business, politics, science, media, civil society, art, culture and the arts. Indonesia is changing in step with the rapidly changing world, and therefore elements of the partnerships are also changing. How much of the familiar and tried-and-tested stays relevant these days? This and more, in our study "Germany in the eyes of Indonesia - A strategic partnership under scrutiny" Also available on our website: https://lnkd.in/gHdkZTNG #GIZindonesia #Indonesia #Germany Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH

Natural Rubber from Indonesia makes the world go round. 🌏 Our cooperation with private sector partner Continental yields triple benefits: for smallholder farmers, for our private sector partner Continental and for the environment in Indonesia. Read more in the article highlighted below! #GIZindonesia #indonesia #develoPPP #PublicPrivatePartnership #PrivateSector #EnvironmentalProtection #FairTrade #ClimateProtection

🌍🌱 Responsibly sourced natural rubber from Indonesia! 🌱🌍 Our collaboration with Continental brings benefits for three: for the smallholder farmers, for Continental, and the environment in Indonesia. 🌱 Higher Income for Farmers: 90 percent of farmers say they have increased their yields thanks to better cultivation methods. They achieve higher prices with the drier and purer natural rubber and have a reliable buyer in Continental. 🚜 Sustainable Supply Chain: With GPS tracking, we know exactly where the natural rubber comes from. This means no deforestation and maximum transparency. 🌍 Protecting the Environment and Climate: We help preserve valuable forest and peatland areas in Indonesia, protecting the climate and biodiversity. 🤝 Reliable Partnership with Continental: Continental Tires aims to cover its entire demand for natural rubber exclusively through responsible sources by 2030. The joint project with GIZ is an important step in this direction for Continental. 🌐 Support from the BMZ: Since 2018, we have been working on making the rubber supply chain digitally traceable as part of the #develoPPP program. #EnvironmentalProtection #FairTrade #ClimateProtection GIZ Indonesia & ASEAN

📢 Green Economy Expo (GEE) 2024: Paving the Way for Indonesia’s Green Economy Transformation and Sustainable Growth    🎯 The Indonesian government has embarked on a transformative journey towards a green economy to realize its Golden Vision 2045. Central to this effort are Low Carbon Development and Climate Resilience initiatives, which support Green Economic Transformation aimed at propelling Indonesia’s economic growth and achieving net zero emissions by 2060 or earlier. These green interventions promise a significant GDP growth rate of 6.22% from 2025 to 2045, setting a solid foundation for sustainable development.     🌱 Achieving these ambitious goals requires strong partnerships and meaningful participation from all sectors, fostering an innovation and technology ecosystem to accelerate the green economy and sustainable development. Therefore, Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas Republic of Indonesia has organized the "Green Economy Expo (GEE): Advancing Technology, Innovation, and Circularity" from July 3-5, 2024, at the Jakarta Convention Center.     🤝 “The German government is committed to supporting Indonesia's transition to a sustainable, green economy through financial and technical cooperation via KfW and GIZ. This includes assistance in infrastructure financing, waste management master plan development, policy implementation, and capacity strengthening. Our collaboration aims to foster innovation, investment, and job creation while promoting sustainability. The Green Economy Expo 2024 is an excellent platform for sharing ideas, forming new partnerships, and accelerating this transition” said Oliver Hoppe, Counsellor of Development Corporation, German Embassy in Jakarta during the opening.     ♻ This event aims to launch the Green Economic Development program, including the circular economy roadmap of 10Rs (refuse, rethink, reduce, reuse, recycle, repair, refurbish, remanufacture, repurpose, recycle, and recover). It bridges gaps between governmental and non-governmental entities, promotes green technologies, and explores new opportunities for collaboration.     🌏 Supporting this milestone, GIZ Indonesia and ASEAN are committed to supporting the Indonesian government and other multi-stakeholders through our work in thematic focal areas such as Energy Transition, Resilient Nature, and Green Infrastructure, as well as, complementing the priority topics of Indonesian-German cooperation.     🗨 In addition to this event, we also supported Bappenas in the implementation of the Green Economy Expo through thematic discussion and booth at exhibition area that attracted over 300 visitors from diverse backgrounds, participating in interactive games, project-impacts showcasing, and networking that enable collaborations to advance sustainable growth, green economy, and circularity.    #GIZIndonesia #GreenEconomy #SustainableDevelopment
