The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, in collaboration with the Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI-OP) Secretariat under the Office of the President, is set to represent Uganda at the prestigious GITEX Africa 2025, scheduled for April 14th to 16th in Marrakech, Morocco. This event marks the third edition of Africa's leading technology and startup conference, which brings together industry leaders, investors, policymakers, and entrepreneurs to drive digital transformation and shape the continent’s future in the global tech landscape. Uganda's participation in GITEX Africa 2025 is a key step in positioning the country as a global leader in Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Deep Technology, and digital innovation. As global markets evolve, Uganda is reinforcing its commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technologies to drive economic growth, create jobs, and establish a robust digital economy capable of competing on the world stage. Dr. Aminah Zawedde, the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, expressed her excitement about the event’s potential for Uganda, stating, “GITEX provides a powerful platform to showcase Uganda as a global destination for Business Process Outsourcing. Our presence at this prestigious event allows us to amplify our value proposition to global markets, creating new opportunities for trade, investment, and digital innovation.” Hon. Dr. Monica Musenero, Minister for Science, Innovation, and Technology, echoed Dr. Zawedde’s sentiments, emphasizing Uganda's focus on harnessing Deep Tech as a critical driver for Africa’s fourth industrial revolution. “With a reinforced focus on Africa’s digital public infrastructure, emerging AI ecosystems, and transformative technologies, our participation at GITEX underscores Uganda’s unwavering commitment to science and innovation as tools to address global challenges. This platform allows us to connect with international stakeholders, form strategic partnerships, and accelerate the development of Uganda’s Deep Tech ecosystem,” she explained. In recent years, Uganda’s startup ecosystem has evolved into one of Africa’s most promising hubs for digital innovation. At GITEX Africa 2025, Uganda will showcase a diverse and dynamic delegation of innovators, entrepreneurs, and technology-driven enterprises, reflecting the ingenuity of the country’s tech landscape. The delegation will include representatives from the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) and the National ICT Innovation Hub, as well as key partners from the public and private sectors. Notable partners in Uganda’s delegation include Future Lab, Deep Tech Centre of Excellence, YAKO ICT Hub, Refactory Academy, Sumic IT Solutions, Credify Africa, GovNeT Services, Microfuse Computers, RENU, Kacyber, and Afriqloud Uganda Limited. Together, they will highlight the thriving and innovative nature of Uganda’s tech ecosystem. Uganda’s participation at GITEX Africa 2025 is centered around the vision to solidify its status as Africa’s Innovation Powerhouse. By emphasizing BPO, AI, Deep Tech, and digital public infrastructure, Uganda aims to drive technological transformation, foster entrepreneurship, and contribute to inclusive economic growth. The country's forward-looking approach will position it as a leading player in the global technology revolution. As the world increasingly looks to Africa for innovative solutions, Uganda is ready to take on a leadership role. With its focus on forging collaborations, attracting global investments, and advancing technology, Uganda is set to help shape the future of Africa and beyond. GITEX Africa 2025 will undoubtedly provide Uganda with an unparalleled opportunity to showcase its tech capabilities, network with international partners, and further its commitment to driving digital transformation on the continent.
