So fucking sick of damning voices,
Spitting venom from a stool perched on gold,
"They're taking from the little I gave you"
Ugly, naked clutching spoils from the poor.
"I will choose all your enemies,
Hear my cackles ring out in the streets"
Corrupt and sickened from the greed and the loathing,
"You will blame those whose life hangs by a thread"
Scratch out the eyes, choke on words of hate, spite and contempt.
Forgo compassion, and purge all empathy, yearn for blood on your teeth.
Scratch out the eyes, and spit at each face your hate, your loathing.
Forgo compassion, and take your aim to bite at the hand that’s in need.
A light has gone out, a flame has been smothered,
A choice in the moment? Or a tapestry woven?
A knife that's been dulled, worn down by your venom.
Convinced of their ‘values’, you’re a misguided weapon
With wounded hands,
I will claw out of the ground that covers me
And spit the soil out on my sheets.
I will crawl,
Into the splintered frame that I still call my home.
It’s a still sickness that burdens me
I’ll speak new words,
And tear my voice to shreds, screaming of a new peace,
And spit the blood out on my sheets.
I will pull myself together,
Like pulling teeth or a needle through skin.
You know I live in the back of my mind.
And if this is still my home,
Then leave me where I lay.
I am the cause
I am the breach
I am the weakness
The source of it all
I am the cause
I am the breach
I am the weakness
The source of it all
Noise still clouds my head,
Words that taste like death,
Safely smothered beneath,
The blood stains on my sheets.
Will I disintegrate before I feel safe?
Held together by splinters and thread, can I feel safe?
This is the sound of my disintegration
“What if you stayed? It’s far too late tonight to choose to leave.”
There’s self depreciation then there’s me
And a poison liver mocking all of me.
“Well, wait till spring and see the night with me?”
What if I can’t drown the demon that’s in me?
That chews and spits inside to make room to speak.
Are you haunted by the night I said I’d leave?
Or did you stoically just burden it to me?
“What if you stayed? You’re far too young to simply make your peace - to settle up, lay down and go to sleep.”
But a chorus in my mind makes promises
Of a violet sun that hits when morning breaks,
Of a roaring silence drowning out the noise, my secret truths, the grapples with a voice.
On a day that I will finally learn the weight
It ends as fast as I recoil.
With a back to the pavement, bitter life on the tongue,
A crisis unfolding,
Were they threats all along?
Headlights tear through my iris, as I peak through the curtain.
With a back to the pavement,
I breathe deep and let go
I breathe deep and let go.
"Before you abandon, think of all that's to come, the hearts that surround you, the life left undone"
Far too young to simply make your peace, far too old to not keep promises.

I've finally got Black Line on physical copy and this record actually blew my mind. There's so much beauty to this album but also its so crushingly heavy and extreme in an audio sense, Respire don't hold back they just let everything go and beyond, amazing!! Darknight
