Cole Smith Named Winner of Kent Hull Trophy

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State football's Cole Smith was named the winner of the Entergy Kent Hull Trophy, given annually to the best collegiate offensive lineman in Mississippi.
Smith becomes the sixth Bulldog all-time to win the award and the first since Charles Cross in 2021. Other Mississippi State standouts to win the Kent Hull Trophy include Gabe Jackson (2013), Justin Senior (2016), Martinas Rankin (2017), Elgton Jenkins (2018) and Cross.
Smith was selected as the 2023 winner of the Kent Hull Trophy by a panel of NFL Scouts. He will receive the trophy during the C Spire Conerly Trophy presentation on November 28th at the Country Club of Jackson. Tickets are available online at www.msfame.com or at the Hall of Fame offices.
Smith is a Graduate Student from Pontotoc, Miss. He has played in 48 games in his career while making 38 starts, including 24 consecutive starts. On the year, Smith has played 691 snaps, all at center. In those 691 snaps, Smith has allowed just one sack and six total pressures all season. He has helped anchor an offensive line that has rushed for over 1,600 yards and 11 touchdowns while averaging 151 yards per game on the ground.
According to Pro Football Focus, Smith has earned a season pass blocking grade of 74.0. Most recently, against Southern Miss, he earned his best pass blocking grade of the season, 83.3.
