Taylor’s new Gold Label Collection features completely new guitar designs with a sound “unlike anything it’s ever produced”

The two new models draw inspiration from classic 1930s and ’40s flat-top acoustic guitars.

NAMM 2025: Taylor Guitars has launched a brand new guitar line, the Gold Label Collection, featuring “dramatically different” design elements.

The launch follows on from its 50th anniversary in 2024, during which the brand released a number of commemorative limited-edition models in celebration. Now, this brand-new line features two guitars with a new body style, neck joint, bracing and overall look — including a new version of Taylor’s iconic headstock, logo and pickguard that’s exclusive to these models only.

Described as its “headlining guitar release” for NAMM season, The Gold Label Collection was developed by Andy Powers, Taylor’s Master Guitar Designer, President and CEO. These models are available in Honduran rosewood or Hawaiian koa, each with an optional sunburst finish, and have “a stunning old-heritage sound that’s unlike anything Taylor has ever produced”.

The Gold Label 814e (natural top), Gold Label 814e SB, Gold Label 814e Koa (natural top), and Gold Label 814e Koa SB all blend traditional and modern elements, and draw inspiration from classic 1930s and ’40s flat top acoustic guitars. Created to deliver a warmer, fuller tone, they blend a heritage voice with a new version of Taylor’s esteemed V-Class bracing technology.

Further design elements in the collection include a new Super Auditorium body style, a Fanned V-Class bracing pattern, and a long-tenon neck joint, all of which Taylor says contribute to a richer, resonant sound.

“The harder you play, the louder the guitar gets,” comments Powers. “But it naturally starts to compress the sound into a more controlled, focused tone rather than becoming mushy. Yet these guitars also respond to delicate articulation with a broadly rich voice. When you play a simple note softly, the guitar naturally amplifies it with surprising warmth and volume.”

Prices for The Gold Label Collection start at $4,499 for the 814e natural top. Find out more over at Taylor Guitars, or find the brand at NAMM.
