Governor Carney established the Government Efficiency and Accountability Review Board (GEAR) to develop recommendations for increasing efficiency and effectiveness across State government, improving the strategic planning process, improving the use of metrics in resource allocation decisions and developing continuous improvement practices.
Governor Carney took office on January 17, 2017 focused on making Delaware’s economy more competitive, preparing Delaware’s children to succeed, and building a long-term, sustainable financial plan. Working with Delawareans across the state, and with members of the General Assembly, he has delivered on each of those priorities.
This year, Governor Carney worked with the General Assembly to pass legislation aimed at making our communities safer, protecting our environment, and giving every Delaware child a high-quality education. On June 30th, 2024, Governor Carney signed a balanced $6.1 billion operating budget that sustainably and responsibly manages taxpayer dollars.
